This was meant to be my submission for @24cr pearls contest but my effing clock trolled me and missed the deadline, so since I already made them, I might as well introduce them to you

So, one Tourmaline was to receive a Pearl on account of her war achievements, but the Abalone in charge of making said pearl skipped several gem-making regulations, resulting in nacre sticking to 2 different cores yet fusing into one single pearl...or so everyone thought till the pearl took form. Both cores actually retained consciousness, meaning that those pearls were both defective and an abomination. Barely making out alive, the pearls wandered the moon where they were created, before being “helped” by a Red Abalone’s Pearl that “happened” to find them
Bronze was meant to be the only Pearl, and though she doesn’t know it, Silver found out by accident and she resents it gravely. Silver slowly coerced Bronce into some kind of dependent relationship. She would torture psychologically Bronce into thinking that no being would ever tolerate such monster, so her “staying with her out of pity” was actually merciful and the closest she could ever be to be loved. Silver actually poofed them the first time, to make sure their regeneration allowed her to move freely (hair/sleeves). Bronze allows this to happen because she doesn’t know any better. Also, the few times she dared to stand up against her “lover”, Silver threatened to shatter them both (getting really close one of those times).
Bronze is quiet and tiptoes rather than walking, in order not to disturb Silver. Also, Bronze was bullied into thinking that she sounds horrible (her voice is slightly echoed/double due to the space between the nacre layers in Bronze’s gem). Silver does sing beautifully, but the fact that she can’t control more than her 2 arms and face means she “wastes” her impeccable voice bossing Bronze around. Silver’s voice assures her a place in the spotlight of “Mother Abalone”, and Bronze follows every command in order to keep her beloved safe and happy
