Yesterday I went into this workshop not really having ideas for what I was going to make, but that ended up being the best possible thing in my opinion. I’m not very strong at making things 3D it wouldn’t be my strong suit so I choose this workshop to get out of that comfort zone and explore different ways of making Art, using mixed materials which is something I do enjoy from Collage.

I discussed with Mike my concept and really like the collage elements and was first looking into relief but then I had this idea to make a mask of myself and combine photos and collected material and put it onto that piece initially.

I am going to go back to photography to take more and experiment and see how far this can go. I’m definitely looking into on Thursday to make more of these heads and combine them possibly!

Came home to the paper catalogue in my mail box - big happy jumps! I love Claudie’s bedroom, every last itty bitty inch. Question, the other doll in the bakery, which face mold is that?

i actually got a few questions on my reply to that post about that. So i'll answer it here right now.

its actually a term i came up with by myself, not and official/fandom term. Basically what I believed to be the core 3 molds are the face molds that AG tends to use the most:

-the classic mold

-the josefina mold

-the sonali mold

although at the time i typed that post out i wasn't aware of the fact that the jess mold had the same number of character dolls as sonali mold, so I am going ahead and add it to the "core" mold list, making it the core 4, not core 3.

now heres some visual statistics:

as you can see, classic mold is used the most, having been used on 17 dolls

not far behind is the josefina mold, being used on 16 dolls

and as i said before, we also have the sonali and jess molds, each having been used 4 times.

then there is the kaya and joss molds, both being used twice.

and lastly, there is the dolls that have unique molds that no other character doll has. marie grace, addy, nanea, and makena. (I put addy as unique because she is the only charcter doll to have that mold. please don't ask about truly me's mold statistics because i don't really know much about them, and there is ALOT of them)

I’ve seen alot of discussion lately over how the dolls faces look different depepnding on how old it is. So i decided to make some comparisons of the oldest version of the molds and the newest

The classic mold

This is the oldest face mold and the first one used. It is used on all 3 of the original girls. As you can see, the eyes look more sunken in and slightly more almond shape than in 2021. The modern classic mold looks like it has a slightly narrower face as well

The addy mold

The same things apply here as well, except they eyes seem to be more narrow now than in 1993. It looks like mouth shape is just slightly different as well.

The josefina mold

On another note, It is very interesting to see how much the classic mold has changed over the years
