Just a little venting
...for a change, after so many succes posts and content.
So, I got a little bored doing the same thing over and over, so I decided to challenge myself to switch things up a bit and keep myself interested (I get distracted very, very fast). What I decided to do is do a TS4 to TS3 conversion. Never did that before and I like challenging myself.
Well, all went reasonably well for a first timer. I was actually quite surprised that the process of getting it in the game went so smoothly. But OF COURSE I can't challenge myself normally and immediately picked a very difficult hair to convert. Sigh.
It has curls, so spirals in the mesh, and on top of that it's originally a 52k poly (!!!) hairstyle. I looooove curly hairs because I have curls myself, but these kind of meshes don't decimate well. I already knew that, why did I still started working on this? I already get scared of 30k+ meshes, no way I'm gonna put a 52k one in my game without reducing it.
So I tried. Of course I tried. But it looks chunky af and now I'm a little sad. It isn't even low poly or something, it's still 28k poly but looks like it's decimated into oblivion. Which it is, but still.
Looks worse in game then in the gif btw.
Ah well. At least I know how to convert now, so I'm just gonna go for some different hairstyles to do. Maybe some for males so I can use them as a default if they turn out okay!
