Prompts for Dorcas please?:)
So, sorry that this is such a delayed response. I had this nice big list for you and I thought I had responded privately by accident, but it turns out I just lost it all. So whatever, here’s it is again:
Prompts:
Don’t touch the masterpiece: Personally i would love to read the whole shabockle that was Peter breaking her sculpture and the aftermath of it. Sure that was way back in second year, but it definitely impacted her. Is she overly paranoid now that her art is always in danger of being destroyed? Has she forgiven Peter? Just how grateful is she to have Lily looking after her work?
Fourth Wheel: How hard must it be to have three room mates that have self-proclaimed themselves as best friends? Dorcas must think that there’s no room in that trio for a fourth person. Sure, they’re good friends to her, but she’s obviously the odd girl out. Does she channel those feelings of being left out into her work? Does she even mind at all?
You see trash, I see art: What a unique perspective Dorcas must have on the world around her. Surly she’s created an abundance of artwork that others just do not understand. How does she respond to those that insult her work? Does it discourage her, does she work harder at creating something others will understand, or does she just keep doing her own thing?
And, in the spirit of that anon that asked for prompts for the other types of para sample options, here’s my try at suggestions:
Interview questions! Feel free to answer one or many, but remember that the question itself really shouldn’t count towards your word count. We still want to see how you write in third person so don’t answer it in first! I found a list online of good questions, and I suggest looking through it. (X) Some that I think that could be good for Dorcas are: How do you handle criticism? If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you have and why? Give me an example of when you failed at something. How did you react and how did you overcome failure? Who has inspired you in your life and why? How do you define success and how do you measure it?
What if Dorcas was a Dorian? How does he fit among his male dorm mates? Is he a fifth marauder, or a fifth wheel? Do they even blink an eye at his messy tendencies in their dorm room? Is he still an artist? Or has changing the gender of this character made it so they are unable to be less expressive in an artistic form.
Again, sorry for the super long delay!
