Iβm trying to return to and improve my sketching in an attempt to keep a nature journal like Dr. George Washington Carver. Asclepias tuberosa, butterfly weed, is a SC native species of milkweed. We have beautiful milkweed in the farm. Monarch butterflies lay eggs on the milkweed leaves and the caterpillars eat the leaves. Later the butterfly returns to feed and lay eggs so the cycle continues. The seeds of the milkweed are encased in pods held together with the silky fluff that allow the seeds to float in the wind. This fall we are offering a nature class to include observation, identification, classifying, journaling and collecting with the intent of sustaining and preserving and looking for the Fibonacci sequence in nature. Observation in nature is a wonderful skill and builds appreciation of the flora and fauna. #sketch #sketchbook #sketchbookdrawing #fabonacci #fabonaccisequence #nature #observationaldrawing #naturejournal #naturesketch #butterflyweed #asclepias #asclepiastuberosa #seedcollector #seedsketcharchive #observenature #flora #environment #naturephotography #farmlife #natureclassroom #science #stem #stemeducation #steameducation #teachersofinstagram #teacherlife #teach #teacher #secondaryeducation #primaryeducation (at Morning Glory Homestead) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEN1_Q6lItP/?igshid=bo2hun1mvswq
