“This Fabergé silver presentation frame is a gem of our museum's collection 💎
It was a gift from Grand Duke Konstantin Konstantinovich to his wife, Grand Duchess Elizaveta Mavrikievna, on their 25th wedding anniversary on April 15, 1909. The frame incorporates hand-tinted photographs of their children and their residences.
Princess Vera Konstantinovna of Russia, the youngest child of Konstantin Konstantinovich and Elizaveta Mavrikievna, brought the frame and other family belongings out of Germany to the US in 1951. In 1983, she donated the frame to our museum.
The frame is on view in our current exhibition "Mysteries and Odysseys." Come visit us!”
On a personal note, I once met Princess Vera of Russia. It was quite memorable.
