Taking a deep breath, she threw her cigarette butt on the grass, and began to walk. Considering that she was a fighter, and she’d take on anyone who got in her way, she sure felt like a coward right then. At least Tommy and Kat had forgiven her for deciding to bounce. She doubted that the same could be said for the people who relied on her, and expected her to lead. Six months had gone by, and she still hadn’t thought of what to say to her teammates, or her family. Sure, she’d sent the odd text here and there, but that really wasn’t much effort, was it?

As she was walking, she wasn’t really looking where she was going, due to her mind being so clouded with negative thoughts. Before she knew it, she’d collided with someone, and had to find her voice in order to apologise. Or maybe she wouldn’t. Saying sorry had never really been her thing. Keeping her eyes downcast, she frowned a little and readjusted her bag over her shoulder. “Don’t ya know it’s rude to walk into people,” she grumbled.

Eury’s absence had affected them all. How could it not? They were down a teammate, a leader, and a friend, but Rory remained supportive of her ventures, knowing that she needed time to deal. Instead of dismay, Rory felt only the urge to train harder, grow stronger, and become the ranger Eury would be proud of—which is precisely how she wound up here, lost in this magical, never-ending, forest known as Central Park.

She groaned. The weather had finally turned into something that resembled close to spring, and of course she’d spend it stuck in the woods. This is exactly why she loathed running—at least normally. Still, she did it often now. Shirt clinging to her back, sweat dripped down her forehead and she stopped to wipe it away with her sleeve. “Seriously?” She chastised herself. “Nothing? Everything looks the forking same...” She was just about to set off again when suddenly, a twig snapped from behind her. Whirling around, her body tensed as she clenched her fist on impulse and braced her body for battle.  “Hello? Mr. Unicorn?” She asked—hopeful, curious. She lifted her chin, stretching to see if she could make anything out. Everything was green. She tried again. “Mrs. Unicorn? You can come out now. Actually, I’d love a ride home if you’re up to it.” 

He could see the Taco Bell sign getting nearer, and he felt like a dog that was salivating at the mouth. Food. Sweet, sweet food was going to be within his reach in the next few minutes. Or so he thought. “CRAP!” he yelled, feeling himself losing balance on his board as he swerved to avoid a speeding, small child. 

Landing on the ground was inevitable, but he didn’t think it was going to hurt so much. “Oh Mylanta! Oh, this hurts!” he cried out, hugging knee to his chest as he watched his board roll off into the distance. “My board!” he yelled sadly, feeling like his day couldn’t get any worse. His knee was scraped, and so were the heels of his hands. And he still hadn’t eaten.

It was homecoming weekend and the mood was celebratory in preparation of the Violets taking on their rivals. With a winning record in the season so far, Griffin was hoping to lead his team to another bowl game appearance by seasons end, but he wasn’t feeling any of that pressure at the moment. He wasn’t thinking about Devon, the world ending, possibly finding fellow Nexonians, if he remembered to turn his iron off, what Bianca's latest texts meant, if he was doing the right thing by not joining the Power Rangers, or any other worry that usually nagged at his thoughts. His only current worry was the temperature of the water waiting below him, and guessing exactly when he’d be dropped into it. “Maybe if you pay double they’ll let you step closer so you’ve at least got a chance.”

And the central air in my apartment complex is broken. I know, I know. Champagne problems. But I’m weak, which is why this is my unofficial Craigslist ad posting. I’m ISO a friend to join me at the beach where I’ll lay in the water until the sun goes down or someone to let me lounge at their place (equipped with a working AC, of course). I’m sort of broke right now but will bring my amazing personality, beer, and Sour Patch Kids which I think is a hot deal. Serious inquiries only!
