"Are you going to reply, or are you afraid because you know I’m looking? Not embracing blindly? Because we may be able to see you now for what you may actually be to see if you’re lying?”
The shadow asked as they sat there deep in the darkness of the woods this time; still waiting for an answer as they listened and continued to watch for what had spoken to them before.
Their current appearance didn’t matter to them. Even the deep underlying thrum vibrating through their surroundings and the higher pitched lilt that accompanied their normal voice hadn’t been suppressed.
The thing or things likely knew their nature anyways, and if not then a small example may make them question. It made blending into the darkness easier as well, just another shadow among many.
Their pearl had been silent for awhile. Not off completely, but silent.
There’d been far too much noise lately. Too much going on even before these voices had started, and demands from people that never seemed to be enough. For now Sam just wanted to know what was going on.
They wanted answers. They wanted to SEE. See for themself if whatever had spoken was really something similar to what they were. That’s what had disturbed them. They both wanted to know, and were afraid to know. Afraid that if they were the same as the source of the voices, and the voices were another hostile entity, what would that mean for their origin? What would it mean for their own future or how people could view them if others every found out? Even if they wern’t the same, but just similar, it was one more reason for people to hate them if they were to find out, even if Sam themself wanted to help and protect instead of trying to harm or cause chaos like so many others.
“You offer to remind me of what I was. Or what Home could be... but then silence. Waiting for answers. To see. Nothing will be accepted without information. We are waiting.”
