why ARE actors eyes so sparkly in close ups?
Different directors of photography call it different things. The one I hear most often is "eye light." An eye light is a dedicated light source that you position so it reflects off the actor's eyes which causes that twinkly look. It's primarily used in close ups or two shots (camera angles that hold two actors in it at once)
