Ok Ao3, feel free to add a tag limit to any NEW work. But don't then make me edit older pieces of work when I'm trying to make a new chapter.
I get peoples issues with the tags, but at the same time, some of us have fics with a LOT of angst and warnings. The tag system is in place for people to know if its a fic they want/can read. Adding a tag limit only ruins that.
Plus there's people that are complaining about people adding too many tags to amount hits... OK, well, so what? I mean 9/10 I wont click on a fic if it has the bare minimum tags because I simply don't know what the stories about. Also 9/10 people will only tag things that are actually in the story? If you don't like the big wall of tags then you don't exactly have to read the story, dont just then complain that that persons trying to gain more views.
As someone who tags whatever I think is needed to be tagged in the story - including what others have told me to tag - i know for a fact that I dont get any extra views, and sometimes less views than other stories that have like just the 2 main characters tagged and nothing else.
Tagging extra stuff doesn't get you more views.
Because at the end of the day, it depends on what people want to read and if you tag accurately, it shouldn't matter if you have 10 or 100 tags on a piece.
