The last few days has been interesting.
About half way through the drive back home from the celebration of life service I started remembering random prayer songs- -
A flurry of blessings with their nearly identical beginning phrase Baruch atah Adonai
And, weirdly, oddly (maybe not so oddly since it tended to be the song I fell asleep to after having found a cd at my local music shop with Holy Day blessings and Hanukkah blessings and listened to it until the cd broke) - - Ma’oz Tzur
At least it isn’t one connected to sadness, even if it is getting a little old after this being the 3rd day.
Tzophi wants to expand the list; I’m not so sure about that, but for now the one blessing is ok. I did promise we’d dip in and look to see if any (small) honors could be taken back into our life- small holiday tokens and perhaps a morning and evening blessings might fit well with our new life without the overwhelming expectations we once held. Beliefs shouldn’t be a burden- they should be a comfort and a help. It isn’t distressing, and that is a nice, new change.
(And honestly, I’m surprised- I didn’t know we were inundated with the Messianics and Hebrew prayers enough for any of them to have stuck.)
