PARAPSYCHOLOGY
The study of mental phenomena which are excluded from or inexplicable by orthodox scientific psychology.
ψ is the unknown factor in the ESP and PK experience which cannot be explained by known physical or biological mechanisms.
Para-psychology is divided into two main branches:
■EXTRA-SENSORY PERCEPTION (ESP)
The study of the communication ostensibly without the known sensory organs.
□CLAIRVOYANCE
Clairvoyance is the psychic ability to gain information about an object, person, location, or physical event.
□TELEPATHY
Telepathy is the purported vicarious transmission of information from a person's mind to another person's mind without using any known human sensory channels or physical interaction.
□PRECOGNITION
Precognition is the purported psychic phenomenon of viewing, or otherwise becoming directly aware of events in the future.
□PSYCHOMETRY
Psychometry is a form of extrasensory perception characterized by the claimed ability to glean accurate knowledge of an object's history by making physical contact with that object.
■PSYCHOKINESIS (PK) The study of the physical events that apparently occur without the involvement of any recognized motor organs.
