It's funny. Hearing Mitten run about in the house. She plays with our spirits, the girls who live with us.
She mews and purrs, chirps and little other strange cat noises Mitten's latched onto.
Her little paw thuds are audible to me, loud and booming little sounds as she thunders across the room. She leaps onto furniture, leaping off of it and scrabbling from surface to surface.
She's verbally silent, doesn't speak a human word. Only cat noises for a bit, til the chase gets intense. Her giggles ring out and light up the room, the joy was tangible before but not likd this. There's a belonging.
There's a warmth, an acceptance. A way of being together that says "You're okay. Follow me."
A way of existing in a space that does not hurt, it does not fear, and it does not rage. All there is, is spending my days with my partners, and hearing Mitten run wild in our house.
