Backstory: Blind when created, but quickly proved to possess to be more powerful than the standard and came into Black Diamond's favor. Assigned many bodyguards & assistants to serve her, she was sent to Earth to assist in interrogating captured Crystal Gems. Investigations lead her and her assistants to reject the Diamond authority and secretly join Rose Quartz. Though Pink Diamond was safe from her mind reading powers, she knew the vow of secrecy could only shield Pearl's mind so much, so she devised a plan to get this little problem out of the way. It was only supposed to delay her return until things settled down, once Earth was free there would be no need to worry about anything slipping out, but as with many of RQ's schemes, things went badly. Rose told her that she'd have to prove her loyalty to the CG, so she had a special mission for her: Since she was such a high-ranking gem, she would be able to access some secret files in a nearby cavern base that were thought to be lost due to a cave-in. She was so small, she should be able to get past the rubble. She'd have to individually upload each file, but it would be doable for her. What she didn't know was that the caverns were still in the process of collapsing, and once she was in she'd most likely be trapped and cut-off from communication. She agreed upon the task, but one of her most trusted assistants insisted on accompanying her, feeling something wasn't right. Rose couldn't very well stop her, since doing so would betray the plot. Besides, they'd be safe enough, just trapped for a while. Once trapped, she decided to keep uploading the files since there was little else to be done. Her assistant kept watch, trying to find ways to move the boulders all around them. They were stuck when the corruption swept the Earth, unable to attempt to flee and ignorant to the force that struck them down in their respective spots. Garnet was the one to bubble her when the remaining CG's investigated the cavern, she cried a bit when she realized who it was, Ruby's are inherently rather protective of Sapphires, and she blamed herself for agreeing she should have to prove herself and thinking the two of them traitors when they never returned. Pearl was "lost for words" except to assure her that it wasn't her fault, it was Rose's idea. When the corrupted Gems were finally healed, Pearl was finally able to confess to Garnet that she fully blamed herself for Black Sapphire's fate since she was the weak point in Rose's concealment, but Garnet echoed Pearl's assurance that it wasn't her fault, it was Rose's idea.
