As we celebrate the women who influenced us artistically as we lead into our ALL CAT themed burlesque fundraiser for the ACLU this Friday at Fais Do Do (tickets: peepshowmenagerie.com), we would be remiss if we didn't't mention the woman that without whom its very possible that any of us in the burlesque world would be doing what we do. Dixie Evans was the spiritual godmother of burlesque and is quite responsible for literally bringing together most everyone in the modern world of tease. Dixie took over The Exotic World museum after her friend and original founder Jeannie Lee passed away and went to work right away to create the Miss Exotic World pageant which attracted curious fans of the retro lifestyle from all over the world, including personally inviting Peepshow Menagerie co-Producer Chris Beyond who went on to work as a producer of one of what is now The Burlesque Hall Of Fame's events along with our other co-producer Scarlett Letter who also helps manage the event.
