Make Me Feel (Jongdae) Chapter 6: (Supernatural Series) Sorry for the late update! I hope you enjoy this chapter, though I swear I posted this already??? Can’t find it on my blog or masterlist (seems like this is a reoccurring problem here)... Also! The drabbles are getting finished up. :p Sorry for taking so long! -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bare limbs and soft breaths, waking up (and) having you make(s) me feel...
(♫) Forget me not, forget me now. I’ve come too far to turn around.
"You really did it this time, Kyungsoo." A man in dress pants and a white collar shirt says, giving the smaller man a look. You feel that it implies something, but you aren't sure what. "How nice would it be to go back and fix your mistake?"
Even though he was asked an impossible question, Kyungsoo gives the guy a firm shake of his head, muttering, "It was nearly a month ago. Nothing can be done." There's an pregnant silence after this, to which you begin to fidget, feeling out of place. Jongdae notices and gives you a small smile.
"We're waiting for the rest of my brothers to come from work." He explains, and you nod, as if it made the situation less uncomfortable. "So far, only us five are off." He motions to the guys in the room, who have all given you at least one glance since your arrival, but no welcome. "You already know Kyungsoo, but this is Zitao," Jongdae says, and you wave at Zitao when he smiles at you. "Over there on the couch is Lu Han, he's a brat," Jongdae pauses to dodge a throw pillow coming his way, "That's Xing-- I mean, Yixing. He's probably the only decent one out of all of us," He introduces, and Yixing gives you a sheepish wave. "And, well, you know me." He grins.
"I think you're pretty decent," You tell Jongdae, before introducing yourself to his brothers. They acknowledge you with small "hello"s and "how are you"s. You wait a second or more before leaning closer to Jongdae's ear, so only he can hear you whisper, "I still don't really know what's going on."
He gives you an apologetic look, glances at his brothers, and then says, "I know this doesn't make it any better, but none of them know why you're here except for Kyungsoo." He tells you, biting his bottom lip guiltily. "I'd feel better if I left you all in the dark until our leaders gets here."
"You're 'leaders?'" You repeat, and he nods.
"Yeah, they're the mediating brothers I mentioned earlier today." He says. "When something big like this happens, we have to gather and wait for instruction." It's a really odd concept to hear, since you've done everything by yourself and on your own since graduation, but you can accept it. Depending on each other doesn't make them any less independent, but you've never consider doing something so unity-based.
In the next three hours of waiting, more of Jongdae's brothers file in. Jongdae graciously introduces you to them as they do, so that you know who each of them are. Most of them mask their surprise at your presence, and when you wouldn't normally be able to tell, you can still see it in their eyes, since you were told your arrival was unexpected beforehand.
By the time midnight rolls around, the last two brothers enter in a haste, shutting the door behind them. "There they are," Jongdae says softly, so only you can hear. "Junmyeon and YiFan."
Upon their entrance, all the boys watch them with rapt attention as they cross the room over to Kyungsoo, who is sitting in a chair with his head hanging, looks up at them when they stop in front of him.
Without a word, a defeaning slap breaks the silence of the room, followed by a feminine gasp. You realize it's from you.
"You idiot," YiFan mutters, and Kyungsoo holds his cheek tenderly. He just took it, without a fight. He must agree with his brother. "What made you think it was a good idea to show a normal person your powers?" Beside you, Jongdae shifts his weight onto another foot uncomfortably.
"YiFan..." Jongdae says, but the older male doesn't look away from Kyungsoo. "He didn't do it on purpose."
"That's even worse." YiFan replies, his glare hardening down at the seated man. "Explain." He demands. It was short, simple, and to the point, but held all the judgement in it.
"I... I woke up in her bed when it happened. We had just slept together, so I thought things were good between us, that it might all work out, like Minseok and his girlfriend did." Kyungsoo says meekly, glancing at his brothers. "But she was talking on the phone with someone. I heard her say 'he's still asleep', assumed she was seeing someone else while sleeping with me, and got up to leave, for obvious reasons..." He trails off. To your surprise, you see YiFan trade a sympathetic glance with Junmyeon when Kyungsoo's not looking. So they're not monsters. "And then she asked me why I was leaving and said she thought things were working out!" He explains in a hushed voice, gritting his teeth, upset. "How could she ask me to stay?"
A month ago he slept with her, he said... Something clicks in your head and you gasp again. This time, YiFan acknowledges you. "Kyungsoo," You call to him, ignoring the questioning look on the leader's face. When the guy looks up at you, you say, "That was me on the phone. I remember that call. I was yelling about Jongdae and she didn't want to wake you up."
To your relief, Jongdae doesn't ask about your conversation further, but looks to his brother worriedly. "Really?" Kyungsoo asks, looking only a little bit relieved. "Then do you know how she feels about what happened? I haven't gotten the chance to talk to her, since she won't answer my calls..." He says guiltily.
"Me neither, actually." You say disappointingly, biting your bottom lip.
After what feels like an eternity of silence, YiFan motions to Jongdae. "I assume you're with him?" He asks you, and you nod briefly while Jongdae straightens at the attention. "I also assume you know about our secret." He states. It wasn't a question. YiFan turns back to Kyungsoo. "Continue."
"I got mad, since I didn't know, and I started saying things." Kyungsoo admits, looking more and more recluse. "My feelings got the best of me. I did that earthquake a month ago." He finishes.
Whispers erupt between the brothers, murmuring about how they thought it was natural or weren't in town to experience it. You see Jongdae opening his mouth to say something to you, but everyone grows quiet when YiFan speaks again.
"How long have you known her?" He asks Kyungsoo.
"Around a month, before the accident." He replies.
"Do you think a month is enough time to reveal our secret to someone?" He asks, throwing a slight glance at Jongdae, who grins awkwardly. "Because it was an accident, I'll let you off the hook," He says, his voice becoming gentler as he kneels down to Kyungsoo's height. "I know you know how important it is to keep our abilities to ourselves, Soo. We'll find her, I promise." Kyungsoo nods in thanks, before looking at you and Jongdae.
"Do you have any idea where she could be? The last time I saw her was before her house caved in. The paramedics said she had already left the hospital after I finally woke up." Her house caved in? How much of her life have you missed since then? You were busy with work, and then you visited Jongdae... With a pang of shame, you shake your head.
"Like I said, I haven't talked to her since then." You repeat.
"But you're her best friend, aren't you?" Jongdae asks, and you feel betrayed at his addition to the conversation, but don't answer. I'm supposed to be, you think horribly.
"It's alright," Junmyeon reassures. "We'll all look for her."
"Could I have your phone number?" The brother in dress pants and a collared shirt, who Jongdae told you was Zitao, asks you. "If you find out where she's been, you should call me immediately and tell me where. That way, we don't waste any time." He says.
"How does that work?" You ask, wrinkling your nose in confusion.
"Zitao can manipulate time." Jongdae tells you. You suppress the urge to drop your jaw. "He's saying that if you find out where she's been, he can rewind time and find her there."
"Actually, I'd prefer it if we didn't use our powers for this." YiFan says, his once stern face looking extremely concerned. "We've been too careless lately. With all the people in our lives finding out about us, and now this," He says, the lines on his face deepening with stress, "We're bound to get caught any day now."
"The Company isn't on our tail." Jongin promises, though you have no idea what he's talking about.
"It's not just them," Junmyeon says. "If the wrong person finds out, then we're screwed." When they start bringing up stuff you know nothing about, you turn to Jongdae anxiously.
"I'm going to look for her tonight." You tell him. "Would you come with me?"
"I'm sure she's fine, just hiding, _____," Jongdae says reassuringly, but you won't be swayed until there's proof. "Remember? She was admitted from the hospital. That means she's not in trouble."
"She is in trouble, she needs me." You shake your head at him. "You don't understand."
"I do," He says gently, making you look at him again. "I'll come with you. Let's find her." Grateful for him, you hug him tightly, not caring what the others would think if they saw. Jongdae returned it just as tightly, silently promising his support.
