Who do you think you are?! (existential question, I swear)
… I honestly don’t know who I am, even though I’m a sarcastic asshole, I try to be as kind and generous as I possibly can be(hard to do when you’re the poorest out of your friends who are all poor college students, but if someone needs something done I’m more than willing to help them with it.). Once someone earns my friendship I try to show them my partial namesake, Loyalty, though I don’t know how good a job I do. I’m also very geared towards physical affection, I love snuggling and hugging both between friends and between lovers. All in all I just hope that I don’t cause my friends to be as annoyed as they have every right to be with me.
Personal wisdom.
I think the biggest mistake society instills on youth is that it's not cool to care. Nobody has passion, a sense of beauty, or an appreciation for things they have and the people who help them. Moody teenagers find it easier to not give a shit about anything and eventually they start pissing about why their life sucks. To have a good life you need a passion. At least for me. I mean I get psyched about cool looking trees and the color of lichens just as much as huge ass mountain ranges. But no one is ever psyched for the most beautiful things in life and I feel bad for them. Life is worth living if you give a shit.
kellyhavens replied to your post: Me against Existentialism
I was out in the rain today and worked through some of these same things. I realized that the atheistic/agnostic existentialists substitute God with the void/nothingness, in which one is to create their world out of, which leads to a form of despair
exactly. atheistic/agnostic existentialists are basically those who use Kierkegaard's work but takes out the "God" part and puts in random things that they think are "true."
Even in class when we talked about Kierkegaard the professor was like "is there a way to talk about "Fear and Trembling" without relying on God and faith?" and some students were answering yes and stuff, but that just can't happen when the WHOLE POINT of Kierkegaard's works was to pursue total complete non-hesistating faith in God no matter what.
I feel like either Kierkegaard shouldn't be considered Existentialist or the other guys shouldn't. Kierkegaard and those other Existentialists can't be in a same group imo.
Basically I love Kierkegaard, but I don't like where Existentialism is going right now. I'll stick to Kierkegaard and go lone wolf with him and pursue other kinds of philosophy - thinking about analytical at the moment - Wittgenstein was influenced by Kierkegaard I think according to my brother.
