❛ by the goddess , hunter , i'm not here about the rebellion ! ❜ she's been flying all night , and the gravity of her exhaustion is only outweighed by the frozen panic burning through her veins. the last time they'd spoken , hera had been firm on her stance: the rebel alliance could use hunter's skills and it was selfish for him to ignore the call of the fight. it has gone as well as one can imagine when two stubborn , war-worn veterans go head to head. by refusing to join the fight , hunter and hera has engaged in a new war , a cold war against each other. but that was then , before the empire decided hera had even more to lose. and took it.

          “ thank you for looking after him. ” hera’s voice is soft, and not just because jacen is passed out on the cushions. she’s barely taken her eyes off of him since boarding the ship. of course her time with him had been interrupted , the war a nonstop storm. pulling her in. keeping her from being there for him. at least , though , she has people who’ll take care of him when she can’t. the smile on her lips is twinged with melancholy when she finally fixes her gaze on hunter. “ i hope he didn’t give you much trouble. ”

she    feels    like    she    could    collapse,    if    trying    to    stay    ahead    of    the    inquisitors    for    the    past    few    days    didn’t    do    it    then    the    fight    certainly    did.    she    couldn’t    even    remember    the    last    time    she    genuinely    rested    since    the    jedi    started    being    hunted    like    they    were    monsters.    she    wipes    at    the    dried    blood    on    her    cheek.

“    i    can’t    go    with    you,    “    her    voice    nearly    cracks    when    she    speaks    up.    the    others    had    gone    back    inside    the    ship.    they    were    alone.    she    shifts    her    weight    onto    her    other    leg.
