“Books and movies are like apples and oranges. They are both fruit, but taste completely different.” (Stephen King) Time and time again, from one filmmaker to another, everyone of who have expressed their interest in translating Cormac McCarthy’s ingenious masterpiece (and my favorite novel of all-time), “Blood Meridian: or the Evening Redness in the West” from the printed pages onto the big screen, and not one of them have been able to do so. Whether or not the film adaptation will ever be green-lit, the likelihood of which seems impossible at this point, here are the names of exceptionally talented thespians yours truly believes would be perfect for their respective roles, if ever the novel is to be adapted: 1) Tye Sheridan as “The Kid” (An illiterate young man with a thirst for violence.) - 2) Anson Mount as “The Man” (The Kid’s mature, tired, scarred adult self.) - 3) Jerome Flynn as “Louise Toadvine” (A branded fugitive. Short time enemy and long time ally of The Kid.) - 4) Rory McCann as Judge Holden “The Judge” (Giant of man. Hairless from head to toe, like a newborn infant. A judge of everything.) - 5) Tony Goldwyn as John Joel Glanton “Leader of the Glanton Gang” (A man with an incomparable love for his country. A true patriot.) - 6) Ian McShane as Ben Tobin “The Ex-Priest” (An elderly, wise philosopher. A mentor figure for The Kid) - 7) Walton Goggins as David “Davy” Brown (As violent, cold, and viscous as they come. Wears human ears for a necklace. Takes joy in collecting scalps.) - 8) Kevin J. O’Connor as Charles “Charlie” Brown (The sweeter of the Brown Brothers. Not one fearful to get his hands dirty.) #BloodMeridian #OrEveningRednessInTheWest #CormacMcCarthy #UnadaptableNovel #CastingChoices #ExceptionalActors #MenOfTheOldWest #KillersOutlawsAndHunters #IngeniousMasterpiece📖🙌🏻 https://www.instagram.com/p/Bn9f2uOHv0q/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1733ss1khuu4y
