Rec because - Hermione falls in love with Minerva. This isn't an easy fic. Brilliant and incisive, it cuts to the core of Hermione's characterization. It starts with an obituary column Hermione is reading. Then the fic goes into a flashback through time, from Hermione's Hogwarts letter and her years at Hogwarts. Each flashback shows us an interaction or an observation by Hermione of her teacher. The progression is written in a realistic and sharp portrayal of Hermione. Really beautiful pining and unrequited. This fic is realistic. There is no happy ending with everything working out. Things are complex and unresolved but they make their peace with it. One of my all time favs <3
