chief producer Zhang Shuwei talks about why there is no “love line” in War of Faith:
ZSW: Regarding the relationship between Shen Jinzhen and Wei Ruolai, I have friends, especially friends in the industry, who asked me that “you don’t have a love line in this drama”. I said that is actually the case. Our line is the first one that I think is bigger than the love line. It is only natural for women to pursue careers. During the Republic of China, the world was still in such chaos. When we had to rush to faith, how could we have time to just fall in love? And was it because of love that we took the path of faith? I think that is too narrow, that is, we are moved to faith. The path must be my understanding of this belief and my enthusiasm for this belief, rather than saying that I fell in love with a Communist and then fell in love with the party because of my love for her. This is not convincing, so in fact I especially like our director's (idea) about this. He very much recognizes that the influence of women on men is not entirely that I have an impact on you with love or beauty, but that my faith has infected you.
