For those who don’t know, several top fighting game players including the CEO of EVO, the biggest fighting game tournament in the world, have been found guilty of sexual assault.  EVO’s CEO in particular was discovered to have been promising positions within the company for sexual favors.

Thankfully, steps are being taken towards righting these wrongs.  The CEO of EVO has already been fired and replaced, and Nintendo has publicly denounced all offenders in the Smash community, even going as far as to delete videos of the perpetrators in the Smash community from their YouTube channels.

Let me just say this.  If you are a sex offender.  You are NOTHING.

Thus, I ask you all: please don't leave the FGC for dead.  Don't let these wretched human beings ruin something that has brought so much joy. If you have done anything to make fellow FGC members feel uncomfortable or assaulted, you are no longer welcome here.

With the removal of EVO's CEO and Nintendo's excommunication of offending players, I have hope that this is the start of change and reform in the FGC. May you all see perfect victories, and may the offenders drown in pools forever.  This is not the end, only round 2.

To Joey Cuellar, Nairo, Cinnpie and everyone else in the FGC who have committed sexual assault:  YOU LOSE.  FOREVER.

Evolution Championship Series has officially announced EVO Online, five weekends of fighting game tournaments with special exhibitions and content for EVO 2020’s original lineup (excluding Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Marvel vs. Capcom 2).

Additionally, EVO Online will feature four open online tournaments for Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, Killer Instinct, Them’s Fightin’ Herds, and Skullgirls 2nd Encore.

The tournament dates are as follows:

July 4 to 5

July 11 to 12

July 18 to 19

July 25 to 26

July 31 to August 2

We gotta make the FGC safe and welcoming for everybody. There are too many predatory people everywhere; it is extremely important that we not harbor them in the FGC. Biggest respect to people who’ve come out with their stories of getting assaulted/abused/preyed upon.

I’m hopeful that Tony and Tom Cannon (the other, non-Mr. Wiz EVO founders; Tony is now the new CEO) and the rest of the team can rescue EVO and make it cool. We’ll see!

But we gotta keep everybody safe regardless of their gender/race/etc. Especially the young people. I know there are some young people reading this.
