So a very many years ago, a family member of mine (i think it was like a great great uncle or smt idk) was going to immigrate to America from Ireland to seek new dreams or wtv. Only issue was, there was a lot of work and things to sign and waiting and bullshit like that so he just said he would go illegally.

His mother was NOT happy about this and told him to do it the proper way. They got into a light argument but she remained stubborn. Eventually, he's chilling at home and then his dad arrives.

Hes a real old fashioned dad, not the type to talk to his son. Old, stoic and proper. So when he was told his father wanted to talk to him, he was scared shitless.

So he heads outside to see his dad and he's quite nervous so the conversation goes sometimes like this.

"Hi dad..."

"Hello..."

"..."

"I here youre thinking of emigrating illegally.."

"Uh, yeah well i-"

"Yknow your mother was born in America"

"WHAT?!?!

So it turns out his mother was born in America and therefore was perfectly allowed to immigrate there. I guess there was a stigma about being born in America at the time lmao. Anyways, fun story about immigration to counter all the shitty ones! Hope youre having a nice day.
