Mom thought I was playing a video game when I suddenly shouted, “yes” at the top of my lungs.
The truth: I captured the unknown spider species that has been terrorizing me and LBM this past week. (The spider is too fast to squish so I just put a glass on top of it.)
If I don’t know what spider it is, it is instantly something to fear. Especially when it has an appearance that looks similar to a Black Widow spider.
Diabolical Spiders
The spider made another shower appearance. This time dangling kind of close to where my head was. Totally freaked out and then asked the spider what it was doing there. Rest of shower was spent keeping an eye on them as they crawled around, dropping down a couple inches now and again to freak me out. I kept asking it why it was doing it, I never did anything to it. (you know, aside from the death threat yesterday but in my defense it was being a creep) It’s response was simply moving one of its legs to I think rub its chin. You know. Diabolically. Evil little thing.
Facing my fear figuratively (and literally)
I remember once I was a child, and still petrified by spiders. My parents had friends for a visit and I went to bed. I read a few chapters in my book and then I turned to shut off the light, and there it was.
Right in front of my face.
That night, I lied for over half an hour under my duvet, screaming for help, because I was too afraid to lift the edge and leave my bed, and from under it they couldn’t hear me.
I was angry I remember, terrified and so, so angry that they didn’t know I needed help, couldn’t they hear my cries? I felt abandoned.
In the end my little sister alerted them, and when they got me out I was hoarse from crying and red spotted from the lack of oxygen. I literally popped a couple of blood vessels. I had to sleep downstairs that night because they couldn’t find the spider.
I find there’s almost a moral to this story. I don’t blame anyone for this memory, after all they couldn’t hear me and I wasn’t willing to face my fear for long enough to let them know. And yet, what should you do when you are too terrified to act? How can people help when they don’t know you need it? Someone do need to take the first step as neither anger nor blaming solves the issue. I guess "who?" is the question?
