pt 1. short.

kim hyunsung glanced up at the sky. yoo hyunmin’s ending has long passed, and out of respect for himself, he’s never check in again. bae seongho probably would want to let him know about yoo hyunmin’s current state, but… for some reason, hyunsung has a feeling that he wouldn’t.

he sighed and looked down, momentarily looking at the iced americano in his hand.

how long had it been since he felt… so directionless? so empty? everyone deserves happiness—this, he dearly believed in. but… he didn’t know how to find it himself. he knew, of course, that from now on he’d be able to follow any path he desired. as he fooled the god he made the deal with, he didn’t need to commit suicide. hyunsung had never planned to kill that bastard, anyway.

‘ding!’ — someone messaged him? was it changbeom? hyunsung sighed, hanging his neck back against the back of the bench before turning his phone over. oh. it’s siwoo! a faint smile stretched across his mildly dry lips.

KIM SIWOO, 3:29 pm. || hyunsung, how are you? wanna meet up?

meet up? kim hyunsung tilted his head; it had been a while since he saw siwoo, but he didn’t think siwoo would reach out first. he should be enjoying college, living like a normal person. it hadn’t been very long since his involvement in ‘golden gate’ ended.

he swallowed a lump down his throat, pressing his lips against each other.

YOU, 3:30 pm. || sure, i guess. im not busy. where?

kim hyunsung stood up, stretching his back. the injuries built up during these years truly began to weigh on him. he never let anything he’d been afflicted with truly, deeply heal. not mentally—not physically. what could he do, however, then? he had to finish what he began.

‘ding!’ siwoo texted him the location.

KIM SIWOO, 3:32 pm. || hey! it’s the cafe a few blocks down hyungjin’s cram school.

YOU, 3:33 pm. || why were u near there? just curious!

KIM SIWOO, 3:35 pm. || oh, i was helping your brother with a few people bothering him. did you know that you’re such a legend that people are begging him to connect you with them just so they can challenge you to a fight? LOLOL they shoulve asked me!!!

YOU, 3:35 pm. || why didnt he tell me first?

hyungsung’s eyebrows furrowed as his jaw clenched. he looked up at the sky, tightening his grip on his phone before looking back at the screen.

KIM SIWOO, 3:35 pm. || i’m already at the cafe, we can talk here.
