i saw a few pictures of my jr high bedroom and honestly i yearn for those days. i had posters and pictures and magazine articles COVERING all four walls. a big fat radio from the early 2000s with a six cd changer and two big fat speakers and i had to tape a wire to a specific spot on the wall to get my favorite radio station to play. one of those circle chairs in front of my window with a pink fuzzy pillow and my unicorn pillow pet. a zebra striped handmade headboard and a big black dragon comforter on my bed. a solar system hanging on my ceiling but they didn’t include pluto so where pluto should have been i put up a sign that said “viva la pluto!”. my bookshelf with all my favorite books and trinkets from people on top, my japanese cherry blossom perfume right next to my little dish of tarnished silver necklaces. i miss sitting in there all afternoon and night after school just listening to music and texting my friends, sitting upside down on my bed talking on the landline phone with whoever my boyfriend was that month, sitting on my floor talking to people i thought were my friends about everything wrong in my life but it was okay because i was alive and had people i loved.

10 Films I Love (in no particular order):
1. The Social Network (2010) this is the first movie i remember being obsessed with as a teenager! i was mesmerized from the first watch, by the story and the film making, and i would insist on showing it to every new friend i made.
2. The Mummy (1999) i have the super yaki bumper sticker for this movie on my car what else can i say. on my movies that made me bi list lol. i love adventure!!
3. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982) E.T. my friend E.T.!! i love him and the kids in this movie so much, it's perfect and i love steven spielberg, this is one of the strongest displays of the empathy that draws me to his films. the score!! be good!!!! <3 i'm weeping.
4. The Descent (2005) A BANGER OF A HORROR MOVIE!!!! all women and i love watching people respond to the little twist that happens. ugh you'll never catch me exploring a cave.
5. When Harry Met Sally… (1989) is this a perfect movie? it comforts me every time, i even put it on to help me sleep during my extremely stressful campaign job (compliment). nora ephron i miss u.
6. While You Were Sleeping (1995) A BESTIES FAVORITE. my friend emma introduced me to this and i try to watch it every christmas now. sandra bullock and bill pullman here are soooooo. oh my god i love them together so much. a chicago movie! <3
7. Scream (1996) sidney prescott is my WIFE and i love her so much, my favorite final girl! an incredible turning point for the genre and i'm so thrilled i've been able to see it in a theater twice in my life! another perfect movie.
8. Pride (2014) definitely one of the things that has given me a huge appreciation for and understanding of unions and solidarity across communities. i might have every line reading memorized (that goes for a lot of the movies in this list, but this one is so fun). and now i'm older than mark ashton ever got to be.
9. The Color of Money (1986) WHEW this one had me from the very first watch, paul newman is incredible and a young tom cruise going apeshit will always be something i like. just an incredible way to film pool.
10. Top Gun: Maverick (2022) this movie is less than a year old and i've seen it...nine times. it's so well-orchestrated and i'm waiting for it to be less exciting to watch it but it never is! i'm hyped!
