Pre-Proposal & Proposal
week 1
Today I started my Pre-Proposal work for my Weapon FMP. I started it off by Typing up the “Intro To My Theme”. This was about what I was doing for the FMP, and what it involved. I talked about how I was going to do weapons for an RPG game. I mentioned that I would sketch out the weapons and develop on them. Then I would do concept art and 3D model them in 3DS MAX. I think this is a really good way to do things because it shows development in ideas really well.
Since I had the base idea of my plan, I came up with a few ideas of how I can do it. For example, I could just do one type of weapon, or I could do a range of basic weapons or I could do advanced weapons. These all sound like good ideas, and would work well. But it’s just down to which I prefer.
I started to do my mood board and mind map for my project. My mood board included many concept arts of RPG weapons from the game Skyrim. As well as that, I started to do very brief and quick sketches of possible ideas for weapons. I think this worked well because it shows a range of things that I like and what comes into my mind when I think about ideas.
When I started my mind map, I gave a bit more detail into each idea that I had, and what it would involve. I also jotted some names down for possible weapons. These were things like, Bloodhound and Thunderbolt.
Then I started my course links. Essentially this will give information on how this FMP will develop on my existing skills. These skills were art and 3D modeling. I finished these in the late afternoon
I also added a research plan to my PowerPoint. This basically tells you what i’m going to do for my research, and what sources I will use. this will work in my favor because it will give me a sort of guideline to how i should research information and where.
My Pre-Proposal needed some more adding to it so i mentioned my career links. This basically explained what i would do after college and that my work will need to be at a good standard to get to university level. i explained about how I will need to work very independently to manage the work that they do in university.
Proposal
At the start of my FMP project I started my proposal. This involves saying what tasks that I will be doing in the future and essentially what my whole FMP will be centred around. It also mentions a brief timeline for the project, but I will be creating my own timeline in the near future.
At the start I found it difficult to decide what fmp idea that I could choose. But I eventually chose my final idea as I need to focus on the quality and not the quantity of the weapon.
I discussed this with some peers and they agreed with me that my fourth option was the best choice because if you create a weapon that has a lot of detail, it is better than creating a lot of models.
