Mercury is in retrograde!!

Literally.

First it was my gallbladder (RIP December 2017, and good riddance). Then it was all the assorted parts of my brain (hello, official depression/anxiety diagnosis). I’m not counting the assorted joint problems because those are pretty much lifelong at this point (wtb non-borked feets).

In the last few months, I’ve added my right ovary to the list (growing some form of dermoid cyst that I’ve quasi-affectionately dubbed the Parasite), and my thyroid (we now sport surprise hypothyroidism!), and possibly another part of my brain (they’re sending me to a psychiatrist to see about an official ADHD diagnosis). At least I’m slowly getting rid of the overweight factor? (unrelated: we have gone from a size 16 to a size 12 in jeans so far!!)

I’m really, really lucky that my job, retail hell as it is, provides pretty good benefits so I can afford all the prescription meds I need to be on/the IUD that I’m having inserted next month to hopefully make sure my uterus behaves itself. And my boss is already aware of the fact that I have an upcoming surgery on July 4th to deal with the Parasite (an appropriate date for the eviction, no?). And being Canadian, I don’t need to fork out anything for said surgery or the million doctor’s appointments I’ve been having.

But I don’t get paid sick leave (Alberta law only requires five days of unpaid sick leave a year), and I’m going to be off work for at least a week post-surgery. And things are kinda tight as it is. And after Celebration/Calgary Expo, I don’t think I have any vacation hours left to burn. I do get short-term disability through work, but I don’t think I can use that for one (1) week. (Although worst case scenario with the surgery, they might have to remove the ovary itself, so that might knock me out for longer?)

Tl;dr, Jawa is borked and has upcoming surgery to un-bork at least one of the things, and while the surgery itself is free, she needs help making sure all the bills can get paid during the recovery period.
