That piece was written by Will for and about Alana. It’s a piece that he would actually probably willingly share with her. Certainly, if she happened to find the piece and read it, it would not vex him.
Aaaa. You really did pick a good one for me to go on about. This is a piece that I’m proud of, which is amazing because I usually cringe at my earlier work and this one is definitely an older one.
It’s supposed to show how while, yes, Will has all the functions and capabilities of a killer (all the pieces to a gun), he’s never been one to fully act on them (he’s never set himself off). He accredits a lot of this to Alana. He likes her as a buffer, as a person who’s there to protect and support him from antagonistic figures—even if that means himself. She helps keep him sane and he loves her for it. Also, he doesn’t have a built in safety. He’s reckless at times. But, when Alana can, she keeps him in line.
The next bit of the writing (the whole “which Will are you going to get?”) expresses his scattered identitiesy. He gets lost in the minds of killers, and so, he’s never quite sure who he’s going to be on any given day.
Of course, he sees himself as wounding her. Which was never his intention. He’s always just meant to protect her.
When writing this, I had in mind that the “shooter” would be someone like Dr. Lecter, a person who’s manipulating him. You know, pressing the right buttons, pulling the right trigger(s).
