I managed to finish Bright by Jessica in one day, for a brief moment didn't think it was possible but I did it.

I like the cover more than book 1. Nice color scheme and the silhouette is kinda giving Barbie 🤔

This book was....better than book 1 I guess. There wasn't a huge amount of random American celebrities name drops, it was egregious truly but it was very dialed down.

Also the overall over dramatic ness and cheesy lines was watered down, only saw cheesyness when she was with her guy. So she "improved" as a writer. The book still definitely feels very "lite" if that makes sense. Kinda like a Nickelodeon show or something but not one of the good ones.

Plot wise we had a time skip to them in year 5 / 6. We see Rachel, attempting to get along with the girls, meeting a guy on the train and falling for him.

Alright I finished the final chapters of my ebook this morning and this makes my 3rd Vincent book.

They are quite the author if I do say so myself. They only have one more book out 👀 i do wanna read it next but perhaps I'll save it idk

Anyways this book was a paranormal esque thriller book. Raquel is just living her life, hanging out with her friend Aaron when all of sudden her dad picks her up from school saying her mom is in the hospital. She has this infection with black mold of some sort. Doctors have never seen anything like it. All while seeing a ghostly presence in reflections of a man in corduroy.

Eventually a friend from school, Charlize, is visibly upset. Her cousin has gone missing. She keeps seeing him pop in and out, looking more and more loss and disheveled and in pain. Saying he broke the rules.

Turns out there's a creepy ghost challenge like Bloody Mary or whatever going around. Apparently you on a train at 3 am, say we are echo bound a few times and next thing you know your in The Echo. I guess each town and city, all over the world, have different echos to experience. It's like some weird time loop, a tragedy that just replays and replays, all the trapped souls just continuously suffering but also acting like nothing is happening. Very odd and spooky.

Raquel and Charlize go try the Echo challenge together to find Cisco, the cousin who is missing, the two are flirting nonstop. Well Charlize is, Raquel is beyond dense it's actually viscerally upsetting she doesn't understand Charlize has a crush on her. She jumps off the train, a rule to not break, when she thinks she sees Cisco and Raquel vehemently runs after but loses her. During that time she sees Mr Riddler aka guy in corduroy, explaining but also not explaining The Echo and all the rules etc. The lost souls or Passengers are very "zombie" like, not actual zombies, but they are more or less leaving her alone but as soon as she gets off the train they get all riled up. The Echo she's in is the burning of The Bronx, how slumlords just neglect these buildings they're running, ignoring the mold and asbestos and eventually the buildings go up in flames. So all these Passengers are horrendously burned and what not.

However The Echo ends at 4 am so in between running for her life and not finding Charlize she returns, visibly shaken from the horrid she's seen. Not just Passengers, or the looming threat of the Slumlord aka the Pyramid Head esque ruler of the place but also there's like creepy giant centipede creatures cover in mold running around. Nasty.

Raquel grabs her friend Aaron, whom they realize they both have a crush on Charlize, decide to go in and rescue her.

Pretty fast paced journey. They bring weapons, they get separated. Raquel is a total badass high schooler and kills the slumlord, though he isn't killable but puts him down for awhile, finds Charlize and basically saves the day.

A good thriller, not too tense as the other Vincent books I've read but it was quite nice.

The only complaints I had aside from the Toxic Yuri moment of Raquel realizing Charlize wanted to know if she liked her back so that was one of the reasons she left the train to see if she would run after her 🙄 crazy teens, was that Mario, a fourth friend in the group was there. He was just there. Added nothing. He was introduced as a blind date for Raquel by Aaron because Aaron misinterpreted the let's look for clues on Charlizes cousin as a date. I feel like that should've been enough for him but Aaron brought him along on the search for Charlize but he just did nothing. Also it's implied Raquel is like psychic or something along those lines, she has a connection to the spiritual world and idk it just felt...a little off or not explored enough. She had some charms from her dad to protect herself but idk I felt the "psychic" part wasn't explained enough BUT Raquel still a bad ass for going off on her own to take on the Slumlord and yelling at all the passengers/lost souls that her and her friends aren't the bad guys. The Slumlord was, he was the one keeping them all there trapped. Very inspirational lady.

So she was cool, Charlize is cute, Aaron annoying but in a golden retriever boy kinda way so he cute too and Mario was just there.

Let's talk about this book that I just finished reading....

Molka is a dark book. It's all about Dahye our leading lady being in a relationship with this guy and then suddenly a video gets out of them having sex in a hotel room. He's like a rich guy, son of some CEO, so he says he's gotta lay low for a while and go to New York. However more information leaks out. Chatroom messages leak out. This book definitely mirrors the Burning Sun scandal 👀

The chat room messages Dahye reads are from her guy, doesn't matter his name he's worthless, and she seems him for what he truly is. Yet for some reason she kept stalking him and trying to find him at his place and then at a bar and I'm like girl what are you doing.

Also I should add is that she's being haunted by the ghost of her sister. It's kinda spooky. Her ghost is always leaking water since she was found in a river.

Literally every man in this book is horrendous. There's also another "main" character in this book, Junyoung. He has cameras installed all over the building where he and Dahye work. He peeps in on the women's bathroom etc. he then gains disturbing obsession with Dahye because she was nice to him in the cafeteria. Truly horrendous.

Over time it was very hard to read this book because the cops didn't take her report of her guy seriously, her parents threw her out, Junyoung won't stop obsessing over her and just being completely deplorable. She really only had her own friend, Bora, who was so nice and caring but obviously Dahye was going through a lot and lost her temper a bit at Bora.

However there is light. A saying if you will. That brings hope to this dark book. All pigs go to the slaughter house and die. Her sister isn't actually haunting her but instead is basically Casper the friendly ghost!!! 👻

She wants to protect her, I was afraid that since Dahye kinda played a part of her sister running away and then ultimately dying she'd have it out for her but nope bygones! Eunhye, her sister, wants to help Dahye kill her ex boyfriend. Of course at first she had to lure him to a secluded place and it was making me sick but then....

She cuts his penis off !!!!

Like reading that description was unsettling but also so fucking amazing like yes we got a win and this man will not rot in the ground. Well actually in a suitcase that she threw into the river. 😔 I mean yeah dispose the body but girl that suitcase is bad for the environment....but I'll give her a pass.

Junyoung the creep follows her home, sneaks in when she's out, finds her exes penis in the fridge, girl why was that there? Anyways, he has all these disturbing thoughts of I'm gonna blackmail her and she'll be mine. He's kinda giving yandere...but not good. Yuna Gasai and whatever the hell the School Days girl was would chop him up so fast. But our lovely sister duo won't go down without a fight.

I won't go too much into the ending but it was a rollercoaster, I highly recommend this book and lastly the queen of this book was definitely 👇

So it finally happened 😭 finally freaking finished Fairest. Took me 3 days, day 1 I read a very short amount because I was sleepy plus getting used to using my ereader. I thought the book was going to be longer because of the progress bar but it included a interview with the author plus some excerpts from book 5, Winter, which I didn't read.

So Fairest is book 4 of the Lunar Chronicles. It's more of a back story on the evil Queen of the Moon, Levanna. Each character is roughly based off a fairy tale character and she's based off the evil Queen of Snow White. I will say however she did at times remind of the queen of hearts only because she was very crazy and animated and threw tantrums a lot. I haven't seen Snow White in a while but I feel like she was more regal with her evilness.

We know from lore the Lunar people of the moon having mind control powers plus glamor abilities. However Levanna always uses a glamor to completely transform herself, we also know from book 1 at the ball with Cinder that Cinder saw through it and saw "how ugly" she truly was. The reason Levanna is "ugly" and uses a glamor at all times to the point she removed all mirrors since mirrors show only the truth is because her older sister basically threw her in a fire place as a baby and suffered burns, one of her eyes is permanently shut like... I do feel bad for her that she had a horrible older sister that would do that to her.

Levanna falls for a guard in her care but he's only trying to be nice, he keeps it professional especially since when we're first introduced to Levanna at the start she's 16. So he's a good guy. However Levanna is crazy in the head in present day of the series but she was also kinda crazy back then too. Her eccentricities definitely grew and grew. She had a crush on the guard but it eventually became delusional when she was twisting all these ideas in her head like he must like me, oh he saw me glamored as his wife he must be flattered oh he gave me a birthday present with a card he must love me. Nope he was just being respectful and such, his wife also pushing him to be nice and friendly.

Eventually his wife dies in child birth to Winter, our famed lead character of book 5 👀, and literally as he's in the hospital room crying Levanna is out in the hall waiting for hours thinking like oh he's mine now, sure he's in mourning but he's gonna bust outta here and fall in love with me because I know he has feelings for me. Truly deranged behavior it's sickening.

She gets crazy, glamors herself as his dead wife, permanently mind you like they've been married ten years by the end and she's still walking around as her visually, and basically forced him to marry her and it's just a downward spiral. The point of this book was clearly for us to see the past of the evil Queen. Why she's like this, why she is so desperate to marry Prince Kai of earth to help her kingdom, her evil plans with disease sent to earth years prior, what happened to princess Selene, her older sisters daughter that was next in line for the throne and how she "died". A lot of info dumping and filling in the lines with this book.

I'm going to go to the library tomorrow morning and I'll be definitely checking out Winter immediately.

As for my next book I'll read with my ereader 🤔 I added several books to my wishlist but I think I'm gonna do the Heist Society part 2 and 3 books next. There is a book 6 of The Lunar Chronicles, Stars Above, which is not at the library but I believe I was told those were short stories so not actually a book 6 however i definitely plan on reading it through!

Book shelf reveal. My apartment came with some shelves in the wall. I was like only using them for DVDs but now I'm using one of them for books. I've bought 4 books this year. Prior to getting back into reading I owned both of Jessica Jung's books. Haven't read them I'll say, one day I will, I got them at the mall years ago. I also got the Bob's Burgers cookbook, also from the mall, not a burger person though jfjfkfgk so I just bought for novelty. I also got Sarah Michelle Gellar cookbook. I don't remember when and where I got it, maybe 2019? I probably got it at a Walmart or something. Or maybe Amazon I don't remember. Again haven't cooked with this thing, really only got it because it was hers 🤣

This year I got Brie and Nikki Bella book. Proxy, a book I just finished, and then I got the So Let Them Burn series. Those books were really good I just had to get them. Slowly but surely I'll get more books.
