However...part of my new years is to write more, so here I am!!

"Ah! Caretaker! I was hoping to see you~"

"What do you want." Caretaker spit out. He wasn't planning on staying here much longer, he didn't want to either way. It was musty in Whumper's dungeons. And rats hid in every corner of the place, right next to the spider webs, "Tell me where Leader is."

"You know, I was hoping you'd ask about that..come here, I'll show you!"

What?

Whumper walked off without another word said between them.

Unsure of what to do, Caretaker followed: this was (literally) the only lead that Caretaker had to follow. But he stayed far behind Whumper with his hands ready to drawn his sword at all times, this is the most paranoid that Caretaker has felt in a long time. Maybe even going back into his training years: when every twist and turn he dared to commit always had the slight undertone of a mistake. But Caretaker was here for Leader. To save her from who knows what she's been through.

They continued to walk until they ended up in a clay arena with chains forming a dome over the top. The floor had been covered in a layer of dust and sand that was just thick enough to have left tracks where Caretaker had walked. On the other side was a tunnel leading into darkness.

"Now, I'm going to collect it, you stay here."

It? What's 'it'?'

Whumper returned with, essentially, a bag of skin and bones chained. The form was scarred from head to toe and clearly malnourished, what Caretaker assumed was 'it' had pale and clammy skin with a greasy red ponytail. Wait..no.

No..no no no no, that was no 'it.' That was Leader.

Tears started to form in Caretakers eyes, "I-uh" Until anger quickly pulled at their tongue, "What. What did you do?!" They clenched their teeth so hard that it felt as if they were gonna crack.

Whumper yanked Leader up and in front of him, she was now on her knees facing Caretaker. But she made no acknowledgement that he was there, she kept her head down and made no indication that she was even living, except the rare rise and fall of her chest. "Well, let me show you" He leaned down real close and drawled into Leader's ear in such a way that Caretaker's stomach twisted, "Sweetheart..let's show him what we've been working on"

Leader shook her head, and slowly stood up, the chains slowly falling off her wrist. And when her face was finally in view: Caretaker could suddenly tell that who he was looking at was not the Leader he knew.

The determined and electric eyes, passionate and firery were now replaced with cold. dead. stones.

Whumper stood up and wrapped his arms around her waist while whispering something in her ear, then he slightly nudged her forward. And with no other warning: Leader pounced.

Running straight at Caretaker with a speed unmatched, she shoved him straight into the yellow stone wall, causing his head to sickeningly crack against it. Then she wouldn't stop. As if someone had put the devil himself into her. She punch and kicked and scratched. Ramming her knee into Caretakers stomach and groin multiple times. Caretaker tried to push her off constantly but he didn't fight back: he pleaded for mercy, for Leader to remember who she was, who he was, who he was to her. But no amount of struggling cries stopped her. Until something clicked in him.

This might look like Leader, but Leader was gone right now.

Finding an opening, Caretaker kicked Leader so hard in the stomach that she flew back and landed on her back. Everything was spinning and Caretaker couldn't seem to catch his breath. It was just so painful. Every part of him was on fire. But Leader just laid there groaning.

Until Whumper walked over and yanked her up by the hair. "WHAT. Are you doing...get up. Are you useless?!" He threw her back on the ground. Caretaker tried to scream at Whumper to leave Leader alone, but all that came out was a ragged breath.
