Ichabod looked furtherly stubborn. “As I have told you, slavery is something to which I am in fundamental opposition, but considering that as you’ve told me, the American government slaughtered all the Indians who were my friends, do you really wish to get into a philosophical discussion of historical atrocities? I promise you, we shall be here all day, I will win it, and in the meantime General Washington will be treacherously slain and our cause rendered utterly pointless. Now, as I’ve said, it would be extremely irregular if a female house slave was armed.”

“Yeah, no kidding,” Abbie said sarcastically. “Be kind of an inconvenience if the master wanted to rape her.”

Ichabod looked revolted. “Leftenant, I have no idea what you are foully intimating about my personal proclivities, but if you ever think I would lay a hand on you without – ”

“All right, all right,” she said hurriedly, trying to head off another rant at the pass. Still more, she felt an inconvenient and unwelcome little spark at the idea of him, well, wanting to lay hands on her, and if she might want him to do it as well. Not that there was any room for that in said mission. Not that she was going to get distracted by it. Ichabod was just, well, Ichabod. Her utterly odd-duck partner, the guy she was fighting with to save the world. The guy who she was following into a place where she had to be looked as less than a person. The guy who had followed her into the netherworld to fight the Sandman without a second thought.

You know. Business relationship.

“I don’t care,” she said obstinately. “I am not going into the past to face a murderous God-knows-what without my gun. I promise, if anyone gets close enough to see it, they’re not gonna have the chance to write about it in any history books. I’m – ” She mimed pointing it and pulling the trigger. “Women in your age wear enough clothes, nobody’s going to notice.”

Ichabod looked miffed. “As compared to yours, where ladies feel perfectly forthright in mincing about in their undergarments?”

and there may be time travel involved in reverse

Emma's going to be shocked, confused, not really knowing if they should do this or not, and so so scared that something bad's going to come of it, because that's what she knows love to do. when she draws near to somebody, she loses them. but she's already learning differently with him, the way he heals her, the way he cares for her, the way he's been with her and is just there for her, the moment she realizes she really might not be able to live without this sexy sassy scruffy bastard, and then the moment he empowers her to take a chance and lean in and kiss him back because he won't leave her

and Killian. oh god my precious bb Killian. He is going to be AWED. He's just going to be looking at her as if he's never seen anything like her, because his centuries of half-life have not prepared him for this, for someone touching him like this, for someone reaching for him like this, not after Milah, not after Hook, not after everything. and here's this woman who's just the sky and sun and stars of his dark little world, and she's as broken and flawed and messy as he is and somehow she's letting him in,  she's letting him pull her into his arms and kiss her like tonight the world belongs to them

and the chemistry and how close they'll be just tangled up in each other and the way they'll stare at each other and there will be a moment of utter silence and you don't know what they'll do or say and then they'll kiss again
