13. hardest character to write

For Skam: I guess Even. I think i can write him pretty well from isak’s pov but trying to write Even’s thoughts and actions is so hard askjdlfhasd that’s why cut and rewind was a major personal challenge for me!!

For tfc: Andrew. Andrew’s pov is so fucking hard oh my god and i think there’s a really fine balance to writing andrew’s character that’s so difficult to get right. neil’s pov is much more comfortable since we’ve already seen it in narrative format??? it’s pretty easy to replicate that!

in both cases i do think the fact the characters are mentally ill is one of the biggest challenges for me. i don’t have a mental illness and while i have friends who do and have seen it portrayed in tv and literature, i’m still kind of flying blind. so there’s the added pressure of trying to write their thoughts and feelings accurately when it’s something i’ve never experienced. in general, i try to pay attention to posts about mental illness that people make and do my research and then just try to write that as respectfully as possible
