“I don’t even know why you decided to go through this place to get to Mondstadt from Liyue. We could’ve easily went around it.”

“I figured you’d want to see some familiar scenery; something similar to back home.”

“At least Snezhnaya has people,” the fourteen-year-old grumbled under his breath. Eve lightly hopped down from a small ledge and stopped as the ground began to flatten. He was right, besides the very few treasure hoarders they had seen, the two hadn’t come across any other humans.

“I noticed that too. There’s ruins which obviously means there were people here at one point but now… there’s no one. It’s eerie.”

The kid snickered. “Are you really scared of some old ruins?” The seventeen-year-old scoffed and pushed him in front of her, pushing him to continue.

“Like you were with that Lawachurl?”

“I wasn’t scared! It just caught me off guard!”

“Whatever you say, kid.”

“I’m not a kid! I told you to stop calling me that!”

“Well, don’t have a name like Childe then.”

Childe huffed, “I told you it was codename!” Eve rolled her eyes. “Besides, I defeated it didn’t I?” The ginger continued on. “In fact, I defeat every single enemy we’ve come across. They’ve been weirdly stronger her too, but I still did it! And all those Ruin Guards too! In fact, If it was still alive, I think I could defeat this dragon!” Eve let out a chuckle.

“I doubt that, bud. Look around,” Eve gestured around the the giant remains of the dragon’s ribs, towering over the two Snezhnayan teens high in the air. “If this is the size of just it’s ribs, imagine how big the rest of it was.” As the young man continued to ramble about how he could definitely take down the dragon, the seventeen-year-old followed behind him with a small smile on her face.

The smile didn’t last long however, as Eve suddenly stopped in her tracks. A chill ran down her spine, but it wasn’t from the cold. This was different. Slowly she turned her head. There, to her left, was a cave and at the very end was something that made her breath catch. All of the natural sound of mountain disappeared as she continued to stare, fear quickly growing in her chest as she couldn’t pull her eyes away.

“Hey, you stopped. What happened?” Childe’s voice snapped her out whatever trance she was in, bringing her back to reality. She tore her eyes away from the cave. “It’s nothing.” Childe tried to peek around her.

“What we’re you looking at?”

“Nothing,” Eve started pushing the kid forward, away from the cave before he could see. “Let’s go, quickly. We’re almost at the edge and I don’t want to camp in the cold for another night. She continued pushing the kid forward, ignoring his confused protests and the lingering of feeling of what she saw.

“I want to send troops to investigate Dragonspine.”

“……What.”

The harbinger stared at the assassin a deadpan expression. Eve resisted the urge to roll her eyes.

“I said, I wanted to send troops to investigate Dragonspine.”

“No, I heard what you said. I just want to know why you’ve come with such a stupid idea.” Eve let out a frustrated groan.

“It’s not stupid-“

“It is stupid. And besides, why did you come to me with this?”

“Because you harbingers are closer to the Tsaritsa than I am, so it’s easier to get an answer if it’s from one you.”

“And the reason you chose me is?”

“Signora is out on an assignment and I refuse to talk to Dottore.” Scaramouche rolled his eyes, pushing past her. Eve quickly followed behind him.

“Listen-“

“I’m not.”

“-There’s something wrong with that mountain. There were Ruin Guards all over the place,-“

“Ooo, big scary monsters.”

“-the creatures have to be some sort of mutations. Even Childe said that they were more difficult to defeat.”

“The kid is willing to fight everyone and everything. Hell, the psychopath would probably try and fight a rock.”

“Not to mention all the ruins despite the entire mountain being in habitable. I’m sure that has to do with the pillar-“ The Balladeer let out a huff before quickly turning around, causing Eve to almost run into him.

“So there was a city and now they’re all dead, whoopty do, that’s not the first time that’s happened. This entire thing is stupid and besides, this has nothing do with what your job is. Now, go bother someone else with your ramblings; you’re wasting my time.” Scaramouche quickly turned back around and continued to walk away.

“There’s a heart. A beating heart.”

The harbinger stopped in his tracks. He slowly looked back over his shoulder at the ginger.

“There was a beating heart inside the mountain,” Eve continued, determination in her eyes. “There’s something wrong with that place, very wrong. I want to know what it is.” The two stood in silence, tension hanging heavy in the air.

After a minute, the Inazuman turned back around. “I’ll tell the Tsaritsa. Now leave me alone.” The harbinger then left, leaving Eve in the hallway by herself.

Eve brought her scarf closer her face as she walked up the the Fatui camp. She walked this path many times at this point she had it memorized.

“Captain Evelina!” The skirmishers quickly stood to attention once they caught sight of the young woman. Eve lifted a hand in greeting. She may hate the the organization she works for, but she can’t deny that the fact that she can make even the biggest of the skirmishers anxious is something she enjoys.

“I won’t stay for long. I was stopping by to see if there was any progress involving the heart.”

“Unfortunately no, Captain Evelina. Not since the last report.” Eve sighed. It had been six years since she started the investigations and progress had been severely slower than she had originally hoped. Some information has been uncovered, but not enough to prove anything. If anything, more information was uncovered by the traveler than her own men.

What was interesting though, was that in recent events that supposedly occurred, she was sure that Albedo was involved some how. She always had the suspicion from the minute she set eyes on his workshop, but she never had the evidence. She still didn’t have enough concrete evidence as the only information she had was what she had heard, so his involvement is still considered suspicion. The entire operation made her tired, but she’d continue on until she uncovered the truth.

“That is all. As you were.” Eve left the camp, not bothering to look back, and continued down the path. She always spared a glance at the cave in case something has changed, and while over the years she has become used to it, there was always a slight chill in her bones when she looked at it.

Eve, however, had to stop and do a double take this time. There was someone inside the cave down by the heart. The woman seemed familiar to Eve somehow, the red glow of the heart causing her white hair to almost appear pink. Eve furrowed her eyebrows.

“Hey!” She shouted down from the entrance to the cave and when the woman turned around, Eve understood where she recognized her. She couldn’t put a name to the face, maybe it started with an L, but she was the one who was around and good friends with Albedo.

“I don’t know how you got past the fatui agents, but you need to be careful! We don’t know much about that or what it can do, so it’s best you don’t get too close to it.” Before the woman could respond, Eve pulled her scarf around her tighter and left. She already spent enough time in Dragonspine for now, she didn’t want to spend anymore time there than she needed to. And especially not around that heart.

Eve- 23 | 5'9" | Bow | No vision | She/Her

Y’all know Eve lmao. The “leader” of the team. The one who is most equally assassin and double agent. The OG. Initially hated the idea because she thought her higher-ups thought she needed help and couldn’t do her job. Everyone else thought the same thing so the relationship between the members was, and still kinda is, very strained.

Akira- 25 | 6'5" | Claymore | Anemo | He/Him

The oldest and “second on charge.” Cocky piece of shit asshole lmao. 1/2 of the god-complex line. Hails from Inazuma and joined the fatui literally for fun lmao. More of an assassin than a double agent. He likes to, uh, play games with his targets. Like, one of the first jobs he was given when he joined, as like a test, was to kidnap Eve and kill her and he was like "I'm going to give you to the count of ten to run, and then the chase is on >:)" which Eve was not having any of that shit and was just making fun of him the entire time. And because he's an asshole who throws a fit when things don't go his way, the second he turned around to storm off, Eve almost killed him ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. So, yeah, they're the main source of conflict in the group. But they also have an uh, enemies with benefits situation, which causes some relationship drama hehe. Akira is just a walking catalyst for drama.

Klara- 22 | 5'5" | Polearm | Electro | She/Her

1/2 of the god-complex line. Double agent and keeps track of every and all information. Born in Mondstadt but moved to Fontaine as a child. From a very rich family and used the fatui as a means to get more power. Stone cold bitch who thinks she's better than everyone else. Useless lesbian when it comes to Nicollette.

Nicollette- 21 | 5'0" | Catalyst | Cryo | She/Her

Cute, sweet, tiny weapon of mass destruction. Has the highest kill count out of the entire group; does more like, group assassinations than just one person. It's terrifying really, Nicollette will just be smiling surrounded by frozen people before just shattering them. From Fontaine, childhood friends with Klara and joined the fatui at the same time. Dense as a brick when it comes to Klara’s feelings for her. Don’t be fooled, she may be sweet, but she’s a master manipulator. She knows how to trick people using her “sweetness”.

Domi- 24 | 6’0” | Sword | Geo | He/Him

Does she have beef with donna? Because you know mr sexy fire man.

Hehehe. The first day she walks into Mondstadt, one the first things she experiences is walking by Donna and hearing her "All I can think about is Diluc." She literally stops in her tracks, wondering if she heard that right, before continuing on brushing it off as weird. Then she meets Diluc and she's like "okay, I get it." As she starts to grow feelings for Diluc, she starts to grow more and more annoyed. It's only because it's weird! Only ever talking about the gigantic crush you have on someone and in public?! It's just weird! Eve isn't jealous, she doesn't get jealous. Eve's not a jealous person.... yeah, she's not a jealous person.

"Does Donna ever fucking shut up?"

Eve made her way over to Kaeya's table at Angel's Share, the place she knew where he would be. Kaeya chuckled as Eve took a seat across from him, fuming.

"Well, hello to you too. I see you're back from your trip to Liyue."

"I'm gone for a month, a month! First thing I come back to," Eve cupped her face in her hands. "Gosh, all I can think about is Diluc. Diluc's so strong, Diluc's so handsome. Gosh, I just love Diluc so much," she mocked, mimicking Donna's voice.

"And what is going on over here?" Looking up, Eve saw that the pyro user himself had made his way over to the table, looking at the two with a raised eyebrow. Eve dropped her hands back onto the table as Diluc set a glass of water down in front of her. Kaeya smirked.

"Our little Ace card over here is jealous of your not-so-secret admirer."

"I'm not jealous," Eve argued, pointing a finger in the caption's face. "I just find it weird and annoying that practically all her vocabulary is just talking about her crush and she never shuts up about it." Diluc rolled his eyes, clearly not wanting to be in the conversation at all, and regretted asking in the first place. He looked over to Eve.

"Welcome back," he told her and Eve watched him as he walked back to his original spot behind the bar. When she turned back around, Kaeya was looking at her with a shit-eating grin on his face.

"You're blushing." He laughed as Eve gave him a quick slap to the forehead scowling, not even trying to deny the statement.

What would she do if kaeya said he thought that she and him should have been a couple? If he said this before her and diluc was a thing that is.

Oooo this is a good one. If she knows that's he's just saying that to mess with his brother, she shuts it down immediately, being like "haha funny joke". If he's actually being serious, it takes a second for Eve to respond to that. She'd tell him that she didn't feel that way also adding with how secretive they both are, it wouldn't turn out well. She knows that Kaeya isn't a douchebag and wouldn't be friends with her after, so there' nothing at risk. (She does, however, leave out the part that she likes a certain someone else.)

She can pick lots of small inexpensive gifts or one large expensive gift, what is she picking?

The half is because I have a genshin/traveler-sona, which is just… me lmao. There’s no backstory, it’s just me so I wouldn’t consider it a self insert in the way most people consider self inserts.

Then it splits into “universes” I guess? Like there’s some ocs who exist in one and them some who exist in another and those are two different stories.

In what I like to call the Compagnia Notturna Universe, we have Eve (obviously), her team: Akira, Domi, Nicollette, and Klara; and also an unnamed death/afterlife goddess that plays a part in the story. Eve is shipped with Diluc (again, obviously lmao) and is exes with Akira who tries to win her back and also flirts with Diluc??? It’s complicated, Akira is a man whore lmao. Nicollette and Klara are shipped together, and Domi is aromantic and tired. The goddess I haven’t really expanded on much but she’s has a weird… relationship with Eve. I also have an oc for a slight au who is Eve and Diluc’s kid named Micheal who is shipped with my friend @fuwon’s Oc Skye’s kid. I then also have an oc shipped with Gorou and another shipped with Thoma in the same universe.

Now, the other universe is something that I haven’t talked about it’s purely just been in my head, but I have an unnamed Oc who’s from Khaenri'ah that I ship with Diluc. I don’t have much info for her/the universe cause it’s mostly just scenarios that can’t fit in the Campagnia Notturna Universe.

As for Ocs that are actually developed, it’s only Eve. Eve’s the only one who has a developed backstory, personality, relationships, etc. And I guess for that reason, she’s the one closest to a self-insert just because she’s the one I put the most effort into, but even then she’s not really a self-insert.
