The promotional advertisement on your phone screen reflected into the pupils of your eyes as you skipped down the hallway to class 1 at the end of the corridor.
You slid the door with a thud as several students looked at you but paid no attention as you skipped over to the desk next to Sieun, your lover, as rested your chin onto your palms.
"Sieun, there's a promotion at Sooho's workplace for frozen beef rolls, you said that we could go this week, right?" You asked the stone-faced boy as he tapped on his earpieces once, muting the music, and turned to you with a sigh.
"I can't. I have to study for the mid-terms," Sieun responded as he tapped on his earpieces and continued writing mindlessly onto the paper in front of him.
The smile that was on your face a few seconds ago had dropped into a disappointed look as you got up to leave the class, not sparing the boy another look.
This wasn't the first time. If it had been, maybe you would've let it slide. Twelve times. Twelve times this has happened within the span of two months, and your patience was beginning to break. Excuses after excuses, and it never seemed to end. He never made time for you, and it looked like the future of the relationship was bleak.
You dragged your feet down the hallway as you looked at your phone screen, seeing the texts from your friend, Jinsung, whom you had rejected to go out with due to your prior 'plans' with Sieun.
"The invite is still here! I'm still up for the cafe! Haha, it'll be good to spend time with someone who actually speaks instead of someone who would rather stare at a textbook than have a proper conversation with you!" Jinsung joked over text as you gave it a thought.
Sieun never really cared about where you went and it's not like he could dictate where you went, so why not?
You couldn't help but have a small smile on your face as you twirled in front of the mirror. It had been a while since you got to dress up and go out. Your hair was curled, and your lips were pink. The golden rays of the sun were already reaching your bed, and in a few hours, the sun would set. You grabbed your purse and switched off the lights in the house, taking one last glance at the quiet house before twisting the door knob to the front door and opening it.
"Sieun?".
The boy was about to walk past your house to get to his house but stopped in his tracks when he saw your door open.
"You're all dressed up, I thought we already cancelled plans?" Sieun asked as he stared at your face, waiting for an answer.
"I'm going out with a friend," you answered, looking around, feeling awkward in front of your boyfriend.
"Who? The one that plays basketball every day and doesn't have a single care for his studies or his future?" Sieun asked sarcastically, scoffing as you stood up straight, processing what he had just said.
"Watch your mouth Sieun, today is the only day he's not going to the study room to hang out with me," You responded, looking at the boy in the eye as his gaze became sharp.
"You're dressed so nicely just to go out with him?" Sieun asked as his lips were stuck in the line that resembled the line that was beginning to crack into the relationship between the both of you.
"At least he made the effort to find time to spend time with me, Sieun! Every day of every week of every month, I ask you to spend even just a little bit of time with me, and you can't even do that! I get that studying is important, but you can go out with Sooho, but never with me. What's wrong with me to the point that you don't want to spend even one phone call with me?!" You couldn't help but shout at the boy in front of you as you shoved your finger into his chest with every word you said.
You meant it. You meant every single word.
It hurt. It hurt to be the one that he would turn to whenever it was convenient. To be the second choice, but to him, you were 'his first choice'. You never were, and you never felt that way either.
By then, tears had already begun sliding down your cheeks as your heart practically shattered in your chest. Everything you tried to keep together, to seem like you had everything under control came crashing down.
Sieun was shocked at your outburst. You were his first choice and he was sure you knew that.
"You know that I'd choose you every time," Sieun tried to console you, reaching out for your hand as you snatched it away, already feeling the hurt engulf your entire being.
"Knowing is different from feeling, Sieun. You can't expect me to understand your love language when it isn't mine, because I will never understand it."
You couldn't take it, just his face was enough to make more tears stream down your face as you slipped back behind the door and locked it behind you.
The loud knocking behind you was evident that he was still there, looking for you, but why did it take such drastic actions for him to finally be the one to reach out? The one to give any speck of effort? To finally make you feel like you were even a thought in that academic-filled brain of his. It was too late.

- in which sieun assumes you'll understand in the future.
"You'll understand in the future, why I'm doing this and I never ask you to go out with me, and especially, why I always say after the college entrance exams," Sieun said as you stared at him, feeling the familiar squeeze in your heart.
It was like this every time, and slowly, you feel like you don't understand him anymore. It felt like you were in a dark room, with the one person who could save 6 it was all a blur. You could see his face, stoic as ever. Always refusing to show even a glimpse of what he felt, just for the sake of 'not being pessimistic'. It hurt. It hurt being one of the people he was supposed to lean on for support, but you just felt like another passerby in his life. He was almost indifferent to you.
It was always about the future, what about the present? The current moment that you were in, with him. It's always the same reason over and over again, "After the college entrance exams".
You would be lying if you didn't envy your friends. Seeing them with their partners, spending even 30 minutes sounded like a luxury. To sit down and have a conversation after a hard day at school, or even a phone call seemed like a million dollar dream that you wouldn't be reaching anytime soon with Sieun.
"Why not now?" Your voice was weak, but Sieun definitely heard it as his eyes were stuck onto your eyes that were beginning to water. You sighed as you lowered your head and wiped the tears with the sleeves of your jacket. This wasn't the time to cry, definitely not infront of him.
It sounded crazy. You didn't even feel like you could shed tears in front of him because it felt like he would tell you you're being sad over nothing, or he'd simply say the same statement;
"You'll understand in the future".
"Stop repeating it, Yeon Sieun."
Your voice was harsher than it should've been, but the pent-up anger was spilling out, and if you couldn't catch it, it would spill, and he'd know. Even so, even if he did know, would he do anything?
He spoke about the future the both of you would share. A house with nice decorations, a house with five children running around, and he'd have a good job and spend his breaks at home. He'd have to leave, but he'd constantly text and send gifts for the children's milestones. He'd miss their milestones, but he'd always come back to spend breaks with you and the kids.
He would bring you to places you'd never been to, and the both of you would grow old, and you'd take care of each other.
It felt like a sick joke that you were living through daily. He treated you like you were some fragile piece of ceramic that would fall and shatter at any time, but all you wanted were answers.
You could barely focus on your examinations anymore, feeling the pain crawl up your spine everyday as you stared at the papers given in class.
"Repeating what? That you'll understand in the future?" Sieun asked as you looked up at him, feeling your hands turn into a fist as you held the hem of your skirt in your fist.
"Why can't you tell me anything? You feel like an absolute stranger to me now. You don't want to talk to me in school nor interact with me in school because you're so worried about what other people have to say. Are you shamed of me? You don't want to call, you don't even ask me to call anymore. It's always me making an effort, what about you? Why is it always me? I give up, I'm so tired, Sieun. I want you to make an effort too, to call me 'just because', to walk with me to the bus station 'just because', instead of treating me like the last option and seeing me as someone you'll only put effort in after examinations. I'm hurt too, Sieun. I have feelings too, Sieun." By this point, your face was covered in tears as they fell down your cheek, hot. You still couldn't get close to him, still only being able to say everything from a distance. An arm's length at most.
"We have all the time in the world to do all the things you want to do. Why are you in such a rush?" Sieun questioned, seriously not understanding why you were so upset over such a minor thing.
You let out an exhasperated sigh as you wiped your tears. He would never understand. He treated you like a child that would never understand the world, and you would never get the answers you wanted, even if you begged the Lord above to help you.
"Nevemind. Whatever." You stated, as you turned and got ready to leave.
"Why nevermind? Are you mad again?" Sieun asked as he walked forward to reach out to you.
Hi! Do you write headcanons? If not than you can just write it as a fic or ignore it. It's ok 😊.
Ryu sio falls in love with a soft and sweet female reader who genuinely cares for him and wants to be his friend unlike Nam soon. He was at first skeptical about her and used to be rude towards her. But slowly he realised that reader is actually a sweet person and wasn't pretending to get close to him. So he starts to like her and tries to win her love.
Thank you 😊
Ryu Sio falling in love with someone sweet:
thank you anon! is this how i make a headcanon
- i think he'd definitely be a bit skeptical after everything that happened with namsoon
- he'd be the type to fall in love at first sight
- he'd walk into the office and you'd be walking into the office with a coffee in hand and he'd be absolutely smitten
- he'd tell himself that he was just being tricked again, but he'd find himself taking walks around the office to catch a glimpse of you
- he'd eventually give your team more benefits, and eventually, he'll begin talking to you
- sio would convince himself that he was just using you to get over namsoon
- would see you as a replacement and would switch moods really fast
- he'd probably think that all your kindness was a facade
- would try to push you to your limit, but somehow, you're too patient and thought he just needed to vent anger
- but he'd find himself waiting for your calls, waiting for your texts and waiting for you
- you'd probably be a bit confused at first, i mean, your boss is literally taking an interest in you
- eventually, he'd find small things about you that he likes
- he'd be in his fancy car, passing the alleyway to your house and he'd see you helping a grandma carry her groceries home, and he'd find himself smiling and giggling like a teenage girl
- he'd find you feeding the neighbourhood cat, and he'd ask you if you like them
- if you say yes, be prepared to get kittens as your christmas gift
- this man doesn't hold back when it comes to you
- whatever you want, is whatever you'll get. he doesn't care if you wanted a mansion, he'll get it.
- he would feel doubts once in a while, but then he'll see your text and he's all good again
- he's definitely a hugger
- would lean onto you (eventhough hes two heads taller than you)
- definitely a gift giver and is big on pda
- wouldn't want you to be in danger because you're in a relationship with him, but can't stop himself from holding your hand or clinging onto you
- I'd like to think he would try to convince you to just become his assistant because you're too sociable with everyone in the office
- would get jealous and be all clingy when you take too long to talk to your manager
- would get jealous when you go out for lunch with your coworkers and not him, even though you spend way more time with him
- you'd make a bento box for him to bring to lunch, and he'd be all smiley the whole day, and he'd take a lot of photos of it
- would have a whole album in his gallery of just photos of the both of you and would open it everytime he feels stressed
- he'd probably hide the whole pavel thing from you because he doesn't want you to worry or think he's a monster
- if you did find out, you'd probably be more worried about him than you already were
- if you were worried he was overworking himself, now you were worried for his life
- you'd make him text you every few hours to make sure he's alright and he'd feel guilty because you're worrying for him
- he'd make sure you know his every whereabout so you won't have to worry as much

- in which you record everything with your high school boyfriend in 1997.
fic 2 of 26
"This is recording, right?" You asked as you knocked on the side of the handheld camcorder in your right hand.
For your eighteenth birthday, your boyfriend had gotten you a camcorder you had been wanting for so long, for you to record your favourite things. Somehow, most of your recordings had been of your outings with beomgyu.
"I bought it for you to record the scenery or record yourself, why would you record me?" Beomgyu asked, laughing, as he placed his mp3 into his bag, zipping it.
"I want to keep memories of my boyfriend, is that bad?" You respond as you admired him through the blue-ish screen of the camcorder.
That was the start of your camcorder 'series' with your beomgyu.
"Gyu, look here!" You called out to your boyfriend from the school foyer as he walked towards you with a clear umbrella.
It was raining heavily. The skies grey and the floor covered in puddles. You pointed your camera to the ground, and just as beomgyu's feet were about to be near yours, you stomped, causing the water to get onto the lower end of beomgyu's uniform pants.
"How dare you!" Beomgyu jokingly gasped as he stomped, causing rainwater to get onto your socks. You laughed as the both of you began a puddle stomping war.
Your socks weren't white now, but a light grey as water had seeped in. Beomgyu's uniform at the ankles was a dark blue after you had basically stomped the entire puddle onto it. Beomgyu held your hand as you walked home, walking down the hill road, seeing an occasional scooter or a bicycle every once in a while.
"Love?" Beomgyu suddenly said as you turned to look at him. You had long placed your camcorder in your bag, afraid the rain would ruin the gift from beomgyu.
You hummed in response as beomgyu continued, "Do you think we'll get married in the future?".
You turned to him, caught off guard by his sudden question as you looked forward while answering his question.
"I don't see myself spending my life with anyone else, but then again, we're still young. That doesn't mean I want to spend my life with anyone else, though. I think we'll grow old together and when you have to go in your diapers, I'll be the one taking care of you!" You spoke seriously but added a joke, seeing Beomgyu's lips go from a thin line to a wide smile within seconds.
Beomgyu's heart swelled as he watched your cheekbones rise, laughter echoing from your pink lips. He had no idea how lucky he had been, just from the way the both of you had met.
"Hey, you dropped your keychain!" Beomgyu called out as you turned.
What was it called? Love at first sight?
Beomgyu's eyes couldn't help but widen as you gasp, looking at the keychain in the boy's hands and your bag.
"Oh, it broke off... thank you so much for giving it back to me!" You bowed as you took the keychain from the boy's hand, walking in the opposite direction as Beomgyu still stood there in shock.
Beomgyu knew he needed you to be a part of his life, and that became his mission for the entire three months he had taken to befriend you in school.
"Gyu, open your mouth, ahhh~" You called out to your boyfriend who was sitting on the opposite side of the table, camcorder in one hand and spoon in the other.
"I don't want curry, though..." Beomgyu trailed off as he opened his mouth to eat the spoonful of curry, smiling as the camera captured his wide smile, teeth on show.
Beomgyu picked up a spoonful of rice, placing a bit of kimchi and seaweed on it as he held one hand under it, so it won't spill.
"Honey, open your mouth," Beomgyu said as he fed you the spoonful of rice, hand wiping the grain of rice on the corner of your lips as you hummed.
"It's so good!" You spoke, hand over your mouth as your camcorder continued recording the both of you.
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday our dear gyu~ happy birthday to you!" You sang as the camcorder sat on a table in the corner of the living room.
For beomgyu's nineteenth birthday, he had suggested celebrating it at his house, simple and easy. You had gone out after school without him to get the cake you had pre-ordered, choosing a vanilla cake with strawberries on the top.
The candle fire reflected in Beomgyu's huge eyes as you looked at you behind the candles.
"Make a wish," You stated as beomgyu clasped his hands together, eyes closed as he mumbled to himself.
"Let our memories stay with us, and let us stay together forever," Beomgyu mumbled as he blew the candles with a strong force, causing the smoke to hit your face, ending it off with you placing the cake on the table to cough the smoke away.
"Tokyo Skytree!" Beomgyu announced as he stood in a position to pose as if he was holding onto it.
You chuckled as you held your camcorder up, filming the twenty year old, brown haired boy, who was standing on one leg, balancing as he posed.
"Gyu, you look so dumb," You joked as Beomgyu crossed his arms, shaking his head as he walked towards you.
He ruffled your hair as you gasp, trying to fix it. as he took the camcorder and recorded your suffering.
"Gyu! This isn't funny!" You scolded the boy as he laughed, camera shaking slightly as you looked at him, your anger seeping away as you laughed along with him.
For your twenty-first birthday, beomgyu had planned something extravagant. According to him, 'it's not everyday that someone turns twenty-one, especially my girlfriend'.
That was how you ended up at Lotte World with him, now standing in front of the line for the haunted house, despite your numerous complaints.
"I don't want to have a heart attack and die in there, Gyu," you muttered as Beomgyu took the ticket from the machine, happily dragging you to the line, ignoring your statement.
Gyu held your hand tight, fingers interlaced as he shook your linked hands, "It'll be fine, your strong, handsome boyfriend will protect you!".
Your camcorder had that on tape, and his actions were very much the opposite. It was as if a zombie apocalypse had occurred. Yes, that was the theme of the horror house, but why was Beomgyu the one screaming and holding onto you?
"There's someone here, I can feel it, I know it. Come out! I'm not scared! I'm scary too, I'll protect you, love!" Beomgyu said with a shaky voice, pupils practically mimicking gas atoms, shaking in place.
"Gyu, I'm scared," You told your boyfriend as he took a deep breath, holding onto you as the both of you entered the last section.
The red flashing lights and the sight of a zombie had Beomgyu jumping as he dragged you forward towards the exit, screaming bloody murder.
Your camcorder was pointed to the boy as you asked him, "So, what happened to my big, strong, handsome boyfriend protecting me?".
Beomgyu pouted as he took out his flip phone, pressing on the buttons as you felt your flip phone vibrate in your pocket.
'You're so mean,' the message read. You looked at your pouting boyfriend as you sighed, linking your arms as you dragged him to the food stand, "Are you hungry? I'll pay~".
Beomgyu held the handles of the two luggages, one in each hand, as the both of you walked down the hallway leading to your new apartment. At the age of twenty-two, the both of you would be moving into your newly bought apartment. That is, after getting married at the start of the year.
"We've been together for six years, and I know that you're the one I want to be with for the rest of my life. Will you do me the honour of being your husband?" Beomgyu asked as he got on one knee, knee in the sand on the beach, and shiny ring at the tip of both fingers.
You could feel the waterworks gush out, tears on your cheeks and hands cupping your mouth. You hadn't expected any of this. Your parents had hinted you over the past few weeks, 'You've lasted very long' or the 'I knew he's a good one'.
"Yes!" You screamed as Beomgyu got up, arms wrapping around you as the ring was now yours.
"Gyu, look here~" You called out as Beomgyu set the luggage to one side, boxes already set in the living room as the both of you looked at your new home. It was the one home that the both of you could agree on. It wasn't too far nor too near the train station, It wasn't far from your in-laws nor your parents. It wasn't expensive either.
"You're recording?" Beomgyu asked as he got scissors to cut open the cardboard boxes, revealing the numerous memory cards you had used for the past four years.
"Mommy, why did you like daddy in the past? He's so mean!" Your daughter grumbled as she sat on the floor, arms crossed as you chuckled, seated on the sofa.
"How is daddy mean? Ice cream isn't good for you in the morning!" Beomgyu grumbled as he sat next to his daughter, identical to him. The both of them sat next to each other, mirroring each others actions as they grumbled.
"Do you want to see videos of daddy when he was younger?" You asked as your daughter's eyes twinkled, running to sit on the sofa as Beomgyu's eyes widened.
"No! Don't show her those old videos!" Beomgyu yelled as it was too late, you already had the very same camcorder in your hand, about to press play.
