This was a fascinating find! I don't think I had ever seen one before. This is a saddleback caterpillar, Acharia stimulea, a member of the slug moth family! Do be careful, though, despite their saddled appearance, these adorable things are not for riding, as those hairs are capable of delivering a burning sting!
