Today was downright depressing.
Teddy looked around the little cafe, swirling his straw around his cup. It seemed that, everywhere he looked, everyone had someone. Lovers, family, friends. Yet, here he was, utterly alone.
South Korea was nice. It was different from Colorado in some ways, and exactly like it in others. But his family was in Colorado, as were his friends. The people he worked with were at least ten years older and counting, which made it hard to get closer to them. He couldn’t relate to the lives they led with families at home and the intensity with which they were devoted to their job. While Teddy didn’t hate his, he didn’t enjoy it, either. But that had more to do with his ex than anything else.
Sighing, Teddy pushed a hand through his hair. He looked around the small space once more, pausing when he spotted another person alone. Teddy bit his lip. Would it be too pushy if he joined them? Maybe they wanted to be alone.
Well. There was only one way to find out.
Teddy gathered his things and headed across the room. He hesitated, then stepped closer to the table, bowing with a shy smile. “Hi, um, do you mind if I join you? I couldn’t help noticing that you’re alone like I am, and I thought... Maybe you wouldn’t mind the company.”
