Cinderella was born the only child to an Earl and Countess in a small but influential kingdom. Both of her parents loved and cherished her deeply. Sometime during her childhood, her mother passed away from a sickness and her father remarried Lady Tremaine believing that Cinderella needed a motherly figure in her life.
Lady Tremaine, along with her two daughters, treated Cinderella decently for the first couple of years before Cinderella’s father passed away. That was her stepfamily began to use her kindness against her by basically making her a servant in her own home.
Despite her new lifestyle, Cinderella found some bright sides to it all. For starters, she began to get interested in witchcraft, more specifically domestic/hearth magic. Thankfully, she had an old crone, dubbed her Fairy Godmother, that helped her practice her magic right under Tremaine’s nose.

Earlier that day in Newcrest, the Goodwin’s anniversary party had begun. All the guests had arrived on time, except for the one person Matilda Goodwin actually wanted to see: her daughter.
Sydney stood in front of her family’s house and took a deep breath, trying to calm her jumbled nerves. It had been awhile since she had seen her parents; it had been even longer since she had step foot into her childhood home. Rosie, on the other hand, was excited to see her grandparents again. She ran up to the door and began to knock and call for her Nana and Papa. After a few moments, the door opened.
Sydney: Oh my gosh, Estella?
An older woman in a housekeeper uniform looked in amazement at Sydney and the little girl grinning at her side. It had been ages since she had seen her favorite Goodwin child and she choked back tears as she invited them in.
Estella: I can’t believe it! It’s really you!
Sydney gave Estella a warm hug and smiled at her old friend. The sweet housekeeper, who was more like a grandparent than hired help, had made growing up in the Goodwin household bearable for her.
Estella: How have you been? I don’t even remember the last time I saw you. This old gal has missed you, you know!
Sydney, sympathetic: I’m sorry for not keeping in contact. It’s been too long, I know. It’s just--
Estella: You don’t have to explain or apologize. I’m just so happy to see you now! How have you been doing? Are you still working at the boutique?
Sydney: Things have been good for us. I’m helping to run the small coffee shop on Main Street now with a friend. And Rosie is in head-start.
Estella’s gaze shifted from Sydney to the little girl standing close to her mother. The last time she had seen Rosie, she had been barely a week old.
Estella, trying again not to cry: Oh my... Look at you! You’ve grown so much! How old are you now, honey?
Rosie gleefully held out her hand with four fingers raised.
Rosie: I’m four! Mama says I’m a big girl now! She even lets me get dressed by myself. Except for school 'cause mama says I can only wear my stinky uniform.
Sydney picked her daughter up and introduced her to Estella. Rosie was such an easy-going person, just like her father. She was open and trusting, always eager to make a new friend.
Matilda had heard the knocks at the door earlier and was now curious to see who it was since they had yet to show themselves.
Matilda: Estella, who was at the door--
Her eyes widened in surprise the second she saw Sydney and Rosie. Her body seemed paralyzed in the moment and as much as she wanted to run to greet them, all she could do was stand and stare.
It had been four years, four incredibly, painfully long years.
I can confirm that in Book 3, when bothering Leona all night to help get the dorm back it involved Estella teaching her dorm the entire dialogue to Llamas with Hats and then quoting it to bother Leona
