So what DA2 love interest do you think would take the news that Hawke was left in the fade the worst. I personally think it's Merill but that's just me.
i had to think about this for a while. i can’t think of who would take it the worst but i can think about how each would react finding out the news. keep in mind these are my headcannons
anders: somehow by chance varric is able to get the letter to anders since he’s always on the run. the news comes as a complete heatbreak, and without hawke around anders gets more and more reckless, half the time justice has to take over to make sure they don’t get caught, which happens constantly
merrill: the news comes a shock and sends her into a frenzy to figure out how to get hawke back. she constantly goes in and out of her eluvian hoping to figure out a way to get to the fade and find hawke. she constantly researches blood magic spells, any way to help her find a way to get hawke back
isabella: she finds out the news when drinking at a pub at the nearest port she’s stopped at. her usual cheery self is replaced with a fake one. she goes every day thinking what if she’d stayed with hawke, if she’d stayed with her and they hadn’t went their separate ways, if this could have been avoided
fenris: he completely breaks down. hawke had said fenris would kill himself trying to save her and he nearly does. he finds merrill and begs for her help, not caring if she has to use blood magic or any magic at all to get hawke back. (and merrill just might agree and work with fenris to get into the fade to find hawke)
sebastian: he thought he’d hate himself for going with hawke, but he didn’t think he’d hate himself more for not coming with her. he knew he couldn’t ave abandoned his duty, but reading varric’s letter sends sebastian into a downward spiral. he neglects his duties, locking himself away. he prays to the maker every day, hoping that it was just a dream, and praying hawke would come back to him
