I just thought the spectacle that would be their ever so excruciating long slow burn would be funny.

As well as the factor of Metal being so incapable of communicating with this man. And Espio not even giving Metal the chance for the longest time.

Cause…Doctors creation and tried to kill him and his friends multiple times and all that jazz.

Will probably change at some point. But I basically wanted to draw Chroma Key (Metal x Espio) art. But have no idea how to draw Metal. And also had some ideas concerning mobian Metal stirring around in my head-

Yay.

The main idea is they have a gem that can make them organic. I’ll probably play around with it more.

Also random drawing of them in fancy outfits or something.

And the whole time Espio is just being like “Why would I want to talk to you. You put me in a fucking cage.”

And Metal is like “You would’ve ran away if I didn’t put you in the cage.”

And they basically keep having a back and forth like that. Until Amy comes and has to let Espio out and scold Metal for doing that.

Cause yeah Metal. Putting your crush in a cage isn’t how you win them over-

Metal probably communicates through actions more. Maybe they could learn sign language.

I also would find it funny that when talking to like Amy. They just have a bundle of flash cards to show to Amy. That they write on when they don’t know how to communicate something any other way.

When it came to Espio, they basically threw a ton of mixed flags this man’s way. And barely talked to him. Which made Espio incredibly on edge and confused.

Amy eventually agreed to be there as like a mediator and translator when Metal and Espio first started “hanging out”.

Although it wasn’t really hanging out. It was more Amy begging Espio to come sit and have tea or something with Metal. And Espio finally accepting cause Amy would resort to going to Vector and paying them to have Espio come on a “mission”.

I think once Metal realizes they might have feelings for Espio. I imagine they’d just go and like bust down Amy’s door.

Like just randomly during the night while Amy is asleep. Metal just kicks down the door and is like “AMY ROSE I REQUIRE ASSISTANCE.”

And Amy just wakes up and is like “Huh..?”

And then they spend the next few hours of Amy teaching Metal about love and stuff.

Mind you, they don’t tell Amy that it’s Espio they have feelings for. Metal just vaguely says there’s someone they recently have their eye on. And doesn’t elaborate further than that.

So then Metal tries using this advice with Espio. And obviously he’s veryyy skeptical of all of it.

Like he’s just completely not willing to trust this robot. Like “You’ve tried to kill me before. Why are you on our porch with a bouquet of flowers at 2AM in the morning?”

Now eventually Amy would probably figure out it’s Espio that Metal is pinning after. And would try to tune her advice to help Metal with pursuing him. Only problem is she doesn’t really know that much on what would make Espio swoon. Let alone know what would make this man trust Metal.

Metal probably wouldn’t help their case either since I imagine maybe their first attempts at flirting or being friendly wouldn’t sound the most inviting.

Metal why are you here-

I routinely think about how Espio would even handle processing finding out Metal actually likes him. Like genuinely likes him.

He’d probably be in a lot of denial tbh.

Being like “There’s no way it ever could have genuine interest in me. It has to be a trick and that’s it.”

Metal wouldn’t really help with it constantly sending mixed signals.

Cause I’m already working on two fics right now. And can’t handle a third one at this moment.

But it’s like- there’s no way to fully cover and satisfy myself with exploring Chroma Keys dynamic in a one shot or even two shot.

I NEED that deep emotional slow burn. Cause THATS THE WHOLE APPEAL OF THEM.

I need that multi chapter rollercoaster of emotions and angst and hurt and comfort and AAAAAAAAA
