Something I’ve always thought is interesting in stories are imperfect divinities. (Lil bit of writer-rambling below)

Gods are born from people, and even if they are supposed to be perfect or benevolent they can inherit flaws that shape how the culture and an outsider can see them.

Something I adore seeing is when this is *addressed*, or even *embraced* by that culture. That gods can be as flawed as a person, or be flawed in their own unique ways that reflect on their domain.

In my own worldbuilding, I’ve tried to have all gods have a theme of ‘what makes a person’, good and bad.

The god of creativity and labor, is also the god of obsession.

The goddess of learning and knowledge governs insanity and madness.

The goddess of love and willpower also embodies fear.

It’s something fun to play with, not just with the divine taking the role of exaggerations of their domains, but in that it’s fun to find what flaws mix well with their essence.
