Is that "Rudy the Cutie"?

But the fact that they make it very clear that he loves Esmarelda, and for the first time feels love, making actual songs about it- only to have the very beautiful (as they've made that clear to be the intention throughout the movie) female lead end up with the man who isn't disabled. It just makes me mad that they made a huge deal out of him having love for the first time in his life, that he wants romantic love, and then they don't let him have that love.

I know that in the original story it wasn't like that, either, though. That Esmarelda didn't end up with Quasimodo. But they changed so much for the Disney version of it that they could've given Quasimodo a love interest very easily and it would've been a beautiful story. Because they save each other in different ways. They make Esmarelda very capable and powerful, so she isn't dependent on him.

Some things to make clear here though: I like Pheobus. He's a good character. I absolutely love the idea of a Disney movie ending with the male and female leads being such close friends and not being love interests.... but they decided to add those two songs, giving hope they'd be together. Then left him alone.

However, if they changed so much and didn't have Esmarelda end up with Quasimodo, HAVE HER BE SINGLE!!!

She was sexualized by Frolo and many people in town, letting her just be a badass who helps save people would've been fucking awesome.

But if they had to have Esmarelda end up with someone, I wish it were Quasimodo. Because they had an understanding of each other. They never judged each other, and they saved each other.

It would've been really amazing if they'd had the beautiful woman end up with the disabled "ugly" man, because that's not something we see often in media.

I just wanna make it clear why I think this movie is criminally underrated cause I see no posts about it whatsoever and it deserves more hype.

This movie has a BADASS female character who didn't take anyone's shit, wasn't afraid to show off her body (yet didn't let anyone sexualize her), had genuine love and appreciation for other people, and had an actual personality instead of just another character who was a love interest. And she's a woman of color.

Next up is Quasimodo

I fell in love with him within the first minute we saw him on screen (well,,,, not counting when he was a newborn.) He is such a sweetheart and he learns what it was like to be actually cared for by someone instead of manipulated. But even with all the pain he's gone through, he's still such a caring soul. And he's a disabled character.

His character I didn't wanna like for some reason. But then he ended up winning me over. He quit his job because he knew what Frollo was doing was wrong. He respected the hell out of Esmarelda, and he only ever wanted to help them.

One of the most genuinely terrifying villains in Disney. Specifically because he is one of the most realistic villains to our life (which is really depressing tbh.) He was a corrupt and evil judge who was lusting after an attractive woman and blamed her for his lust. He also manipulated the child of the woman he killed.

This movie has such good music (like seriously. I love so many of the songs.) It has amazing characters.

The only thing I would change if I were given the chance to is Quasimodo singing Heaven's light in a romantic way and the song "Guy like you" because honestly if she doesn't end up with him in the end then that kinda has no purpose being that way. If the two don't end up in the end they could've given us a beautiful friendship between the two.
