ESHKA introduce themselves with debut single ‘Dream Cloud’
ESHKA is a duo comprising of Midlands based Jess Webberley and Richard Wilson. Formed last year, the pair began writing from their separate homes and exchanging song ideas online. This progressed and evolved into an EP, the first single of which, ‘Dream Cloud’, is out today.
Rich and Jess are not newcomers to the music world, as they both have their own respective solo projects in EGO DIVE and Graywave. ESHKA is a fusion of both of their individual sounds, brought together to create something that is non-genre conforming. ESHKA takes inuence from the likes of Massive Attack, Portishead, Khruangbin, and Deftones just to name a few. If asked to describe their sound, the duo would use words such as ‘psychedelic’, ‘progressive’ and ‘electronic’.
‘Dream Cloud’ is a bass driven song with swirling guitars and harmonious vocals which compliment the minimalistic drum pattern in the track. The song is about escaping the hum-drum day to day life, and entering the dreamworld. It’s about letting go of the pressures of modern life and simply existing. The whole song is supposed to feel like a dream, with the ending almost being a wake up call.
