Kirsti Sparboe (Norway 1965, 1967, 1969) has passed away at the age of 79 following a brief illness. News of her passing was announced by her granddaughter Caroline Sparboe, who remarked that the loss has been "very painful" for her family, and that her grandmother was "a role model" to her.

When Sandie Shaw was participating in Eurovision in 1967, she was already a big name in music. She had two number one songs, multiple singles, albums, and EPs, and was often on the TV show Top of the Pops. Shaw is considered to be the first big name that the UK chose to represent them at Eurovision.

Sandie Shaw's beaded pink dress from her winning 1967 performance of 'Puppet on a String' for the United Kingdom is on display at the Victoria & Albert Museum in Kensington.

The garment was made out of chiffon and silk that is covered in sequins by Parker Costumier Ltd. It is maintained by professionals who repair fallen beads and tares.

Sertab Erener and her dancers were all barefoot for their 2003 win for Türkiye.

Dima Bilan won in 2008, wearing all white from his head to his ankles. His two other partners on stage did have shoes on, one even wore roller skates!

2012 saw Loreen take the barefooted win.
