Hey guys, new Errorink angst idea just dropped:
So we all know how Ink's super good at art and stuff, right? We all know how Ink's got severe memory issues, right? Well, what if in some scenario Error died, maybe he got murdered or maybe he committed, and Ink isn't taking it very well. He spends a lot of his time making pictures and stuff of Error to keep his memory alive. One day, he goes to make a sculpture of Error, only to stress over the fact that he can't get some of his features right and it never comes out right. But he can't figure out what is wrong with it. And that's when he realizes that despite everything he's been doing, it was all in vain. He's forgetting what Error looked like.
The Creator recognized the emotion that his gaze held. He was desperate. He was confused. He was suffering. He was pleading for Ink to do something. But Ink didn't feel any sympathy for him.
He had left those vials at home.

ouch… do you think error would blame his own initial attempts to be careful when traveling between AUs for his soulmate being gone? like, does he feel that, if he hadn’t tried being careful for the sake of those abominations, his soulmate would still be here? he’d have gotten there in time to help them? and what do you think he does to ink’s AU- does he destroy it for having held him prisoner? keep it around as a weird sort of memento?
… also, I feel like he’d take a special kinda pleasure in destroying AUs where soulmates are generally happy and content, because how dare they when his own is gone? how dare they take that for granted after he lost his own? and of course, he’d be pissed at ones where soulmates are treated with derision or as a weakness, too… it’s fun (and sad) to think about, haha.
Yes. There was definitely a lot of guilt and self-blame when Error found Ink's AU and his remains. If he stopped caring about the AUs safety while trying to get to Ink after his soul started aching, he definitely doesn't care about what happens to them now. But he also wonders if he should've just told Ink that he was trying to surprise. Maybe, if he told him about his ability and his plan to find him, his soulmate would still be around. He's a horrible soulmate... he shouldn't have tried to make his soulmate wait, why didn't he see the signs of his escalating descent, why didn't he try to help him!?
As for Ink's AU, I like to think that Error has a love-hate relationship with Ink's AU. On one hand, he despises this place for how it slowly drove his soulmate insane and led him to kill himself. But on the other, this empty shell of an AU is the only thing he has left of his soulmate besides memories and the ache in his heart. So he feels almost obligated to preserve it, even though he similarly hates it.
And you're right. Error acts as a self-appointed "Soulmate Punisher" of sorts.
(I'm gonna be putting this in the book on AO3, but while I'm here on Tumblr I may as well)
Angsty idea where the Creators can possess Ink at will. At any time, any place, and for any reason. They aren't fond of Error- everyone knows this- but Ink... Ink's in love with him. And they hate that. Ink knows they do, and he knows exactly what they would do if they were to ever get together.
Likewise, Error also loves Ink! But the Protector is always running away, always so fleeting, whenever they aren't in battle. So skittish and reluctant to be near him, even when he gazes at him so longingly and lovingly. More than anything else, Error is determined to confess his love to his soulmate's face.
So cut to a scene where Ink's coming back to self-control after being puppeteered by the Creators. His chest hurts. Why... why does it hurt?
A discolored bone is lodged right in his chest, driven so deep it's coming out of his spine. Discolored yet all-too-familiar hands clutching the other end of the bone so tightly there are cracks forming along it. And most importantly, all-too-familiar eyes shaking as he breathed heavily.
