How do they say ‘I love you’ without really saying it?
Worry. Have you eaten? How is your armor? Do you have enough ammo? Can I get you some water? Are you doing alright? Thomas would be concerned with the smallest things, attending to their needs long before his own. He’d also say it by the excitement he’d show to see the object of that love. He’d tell them he missed them, and just show a general interest in what they have to say. He’d be a smitten little robokid.
Do they prefer to ask out a partner or be asked?
I think Thomas would prefer being asked. Mostly because he’s constantly second guessing himself, and would work himself up so much he’d not be able to get the question across himself. He’d just descend into a stuttering mess before running off in the opposite direction as fast as his wee lil legs could carry him.
Would they ever want to get married?
If you’d have asked me this a few months ago, it’d have been a firm no. However, it would appear that Thomas would very much like to be married. Not to just anyone, of course, but a certain honeybee. I think he’s quite looking forward to it.
What kind of wedding would they want to have?
Intimate, only a handful of guests. Something personal to them both, with only close family and friends to distract from their vows. Thomas would only make the special request that they get to listen to his Elvis records for dancing after, but otherwise the boy has no other demands. He’d just want to spend the day with Bee.

Sunlight broke through swaying trees, the fluttering of foliage mixing with the steady babble of nearby water. Steps were slow, unhurried as heels sank into the softness of the dirt path, the slope of the hill causing him to lean as fingers spread and flattened the immaculate folds of his cherry colored dress. It was garish against the withered forest, the snatches of green doing little to balance the picture that was Alex, pausing just before a weathered mailbox.
T and E Shelby
A single claw traced the peeling letters, a sharp, metallic rasp ringing through the empty as he underlined the words with the flick of his pointer finger. Pale gaze shifted then, following the last few yards of the path that ended abruptly at a wooden deck, sloshing water muffling the sounds of a taller individual that seemed to be tinkering with a motorbike. Alex observed for a long moment, a gloved hand lifted to touch gently at his chin.
Soundless footsteps carried him closer, slender form pause just as heels clicked sharply across the wooden deck. The other’s back was still facing him, and Alex cleared his throat, peering down the bridge of a narrow nose at the man before him.
All that can be heard in background is a soft snoring from the nearby couch. Ezra is in fact napping. Whoops.
Thomas was bent over in front of an assaultron, tinkering with the bolts just behind the joint of its knees. It was decommissioned for the time being, but it was almost ready. Ezra had long since gone quiet in their conversation, his drowsy words giving way to deep breaths and quiet mumbling. Thomas had almost forgotten he was stretched across their sofa, and it wasn’t until he heard a rasp of soft snoring that he remembered.
Oil was wiped across a soiled rag, Thomas cleaning his fingers as best he could before setting aside his wrench, movements silent as he tried not to make a sound. He crept toward the furniture, spying the sleeping figure, a fond smile curling over his lips as he paused just at his side. Reaching out, Thomas slowly pinched closed Ezra’s nose, fighting back a laugh as the snoring jarred to a halt, lower lip caught between his teeth as he waited for Ezra to wake.
Ezra casually walks up, glancing over Thomas' shoulder before gently placing his chin there. "What'cha doin'? HQ is starting to think you got kidnapped or somethin'."
Thomas was hunkered over his desk, glasses pushed up his nose as he ignored the footsteps coming up behind him. He scooted forward, bumping the edge of the desk with his stomach, the blueprints pushed with his casted hand. A faint smile touched his lips at the familiar voice, but he kept his head down, gaze averted as the tip of a metal finger scratched lightly at his brow.

“You… you ever met someone that you can’t seem to shake?” Thomas asked softly, gaze flickering upward, lit briefly upon his companion before dropping to the table between them. The last drag of a burning cigarette stung his lungs as he felt the other turn their interest to him, their gaze heavy on his brow. Maybe, I don’t know.
“I have, ” Thomas breathed in a wisp of smoke, the haze curling in a spiral through the dimness as fingers stamped the glow from the tobacco. The silence that stretched was broken by the scraping of the ashtray moving as he pushed it, robotic hand then rest flat atop the table. “It’s like… when you stare at a light too long, and you see those spots? It’s like they’re burned at the back of your eyelids, and no matter if you close your eyes, they’re always there. Just burned there.”
The lingering edge of jet made his movements slow, a dreamlike quality causing the view of the other to blur with trails, but Thomas’ brows were furrowed, casting shadows over mismatched eyes. “You can’t help but think when you see something interesting, or something that’s their favorite color… I wish they were here to see this! I gotta tell them about this later, I gotta show ‘em this, give ‘em this. ” He breathed, a shaky smile overcoming scarred lips a moment before it faded, his vision still downturned and watching the twitching of metal fingers against the wood.
“I see ‘em everywhere now. If I ain’t at their side, annoying the piss of out ‘em… I’m countin’ the moments until I get back. It’s like you never really lived until they came and woke you up. I can’t remember a moment before them that’s sweet. The life goes out of those times.”
Thomas shook his head, lower lip worried between teeth. “Or maybe I’m just crazy. I can’t tell what’s normal anymore.” Slender fingers were clutched into a fist, curling and uncurling as the boy drew in a long breath. He slouched as it was released, his head lowered as he rested his forehead against his forearm.
“I’m almost scared of what I’d do for him.” Thomas muttered finally, eyes closed where his face was hidden, blocking the sight of the scuffed tabletop. He felt a hand patted against his shoulder, a soft laugh the response as Thomas refused to lift his head, bemused voice almost whining from where he hid. That’s love, kid.
“Trust me, that’s a new one for me. Not many people go outta their way to care about a synth.”
“Say that like you’re not loved too. Ya know that isn’t true, right?
Metal fingers were clasped with the calloused ones of hand right hand, eyes downcast as they were wrung anxiously. It was dim now, tucked away in the dark room given to Thomas at the new safe house. The light of the sunset had fled, bleeding down the walls to be replaced with the wan glow of a half moon. He was partially cast in it, shadows cutting harsh across deep set scars and torn face, the glow of his artificial eye barely touching the crest of a damp cheek.
Thomas’ jaw worked, a slow breath drawn in and held before it slipped past torn lips, shoulders slouching forward. “Depends on the day.” Thomas murmured finally, words shaped in lackluster tones barely above a whisper. He knew Ezra loved him. There’d been no doubt or reason for it, but the night had brought the empty back, the pain in his chest almost unbearable. It was like static, buzzing anxiety ushering out any rational thought. It made his sides hurt from holding back worry, ribs wishing to splinter under the weight of the thoughts he couldn’t repress.
Slowly, Thomas turned, facing the other in full view for only a moment before he slumped downward and toward the bed. He curled next to the synth, head laid onto Ezra’s lap as arms were tucked close to his chest. Maybe not today.
It was the third night, just minutes after midnight, the erratic shadows cast down the walls bleeding into the darkness of the hall as Thomas balanced a dying candle. The brick shined with moisture, the silence only broken with the faint sounds of agents slumbering, and the dripping of water against old stone. The grit in his eyes stung, the edges red as he peered into the darkness, straining to see if the seal of the entrance would break. Three days with no sleep, exhaustion causing Thomas’ thin frame to tremble as his free arm around around his front.
Footsteps? Footsteps! Rough fingers knotted into the tattered fabric of his top, gripping at his side as a hushed sound of excitement fled past chapped lips. The candle was set aside, swaying dangerously before it settled, Thomas jumping from the bed and rushing toward the end of the hall. A shape moved there in the dark, barely lit by the light that bled in from the main room. “E!” Thomas grinned, voice breathed out in a hush, partially caring for those who slept scattered around HQ.
The distance between them was closed quickly, thin arms thrown around Ezra’s middle, face hidden just beneath his collar. Muffled voice was hot against the fabric of his armor, knuckles white in a grip that held him close.
“I’m so glad you’re back.” I can’t sleep without you.
♐ - For what my muse would do to save yours
“To save Ezra? Nothing I wouldn’t do. Nothin’ matters if he needs me, not anyone else or even m’self. Just him.”
♓ - for our muse’s wedding
“Oi, D, please.” Thomas groaned, chin lifted as his head dropped back and he started at the crumbling ceiling. Deacon kept fiddling with the front of Thomas’ shirt, tucking the corners of the tie beneath a surprisingly crisp collar. “It looks fine.”
Deacon cast Thomas a look, Thomas’ rebuttal of a mocking expression that twisted into a mischievous grin reflected in the dark surface of the other’s sunglasses. “Ha, well, it’s your wedding, pal.” Deacon replied, reaching up one last time to swipe dust from the lapel of Thomas’ suit. Then he nodded his head in the direction of the open door, turning to wander out and into the hallway.
Thomas paused, staring in the wake of Deacon’s departure, mismatched eyes slightly widened. A sudden wave of anxiety made his stomach lurch, lower lip worried with teeth as he shifted where he stood. “Shit.” The word was expelled in a sigh, right hand brought up to smack audibly against his forehead as he groaned. Right foot, left foot, right foot…. left foot….
Slowly, Thomas wandered to the door, hand dropped back to his side as he peered out and to the west. The hallway was empty, but behind him he heard a noise, eyes quickly darting to spy Ezra leaning out of his own room. There was a long moment of silence before Thomas laughed, lips stretched in a grin. He looked a terrified as Thomas.
“Hello, handsome.” Thomas managed through a soft laugh, footsteps scuffing against the floor as he jammed his hands deep in the pockets of his suit. He lifted his chin to keep his gaze steady on the other, only stopping once their chests just barely touched. Ezra was clad in a startlingly clean tux, and Thomas felt it softly, tickling fingers up the length of his arm. “I was about to run away.” He teased, palm cupping the synth’s cheek as he stood on his toes to steal a lingering kiss.
“But you caught me.”
× - for a cuddle from my muse
Thomas watched as Ezra leaned over his desk, the rickety chair creaking as the synth shifted. He was silent, muffled footsteps hidden by thick socks as Thomas padded cautiously closer. The drumming of rain hid the sound of Thomas’ movements, gaze peering over Ezra’s shoulder at what he was writing, but seeing none of the content. Instead he leaned forward, arms wound around Ezra’s middle as he put his chin on his lover’s shoulder.
“Hey, fancy lad.” Thomas hummed, planting a soft kiss to the space just in front of Ezra’s ear. “Take a break?”
♈ - for a dream my muse had about yours
“A dream I had about E?” Thomas mumbles, tugging at his collar as the crests of his cheeks turn a shameful pink. “I dreamed one time he dressed in a pink bunny suit. It was really funny at first, but o’ course I just ended up kissing him a lot… yeah. Hmm.”
“I don’t know what that symbolizes.”
✺ - for my muse’s idea of a perfect date with yours
“A perfect date with E?” Thomas pauses, narrowing his eyes a bit before shaking his head and hiding a grin behind his hand. “Listen, pal. I don’t know what’s up with all the weird questions, but any date with E is a perfect date. We could do high speed basket weaving and I’d still be on cloud nine.”
He pauses, glancing down at his shoes a moment. “But… a drive-in movie would be really nice. Ya know, if there’s no ghouls.”
✍ for a diary entry about your muse
The page is weathered, thin in places from the rubbing of an eraser. It’s filled with various sketches, some details, others fast drawings of Ezra’s profile. The illustrations are framed with smudged words, only few legible. Among those few are snippets of ‘Ezra’, embellished with hearts and scratching letters reading ‘I love him.’
☁ for a drunk confession from my muse to yours
“Listen… Listennnnn.” Thomas whispers, leaning too close to the other as he sways on his own seat. “D… did you know tha’…” He pauses, drawing in a breath as a balled up fist rubs at his synthetic eye. Thomas laughs then, offering a lopsided smile as he slumps, head tipping back to stare at Ezra.
“Tha’ I wanted to kiss you since tha… that one time you got hurt?” Another pause, confusion flashing across Thomas’ face as he huffs at himself. He shakes his head, lifting up a hand then to pat at Ezra’s cheek gently. “No, no tha’s a lie. I knew I had… love for you then. ‘Cause… ‘cause I felt it. I got scared when I saw you hurt.”
Thomas wrinkles up his nose, heaving a heavy sigh and slouching against Ezra’s side. “I don’t get scared much.”
☽ for a half-asleep thought my muse has about yours
“Is he real? He can’t be fuckin’ real. I gotta buy more of that jet.”
