Problematic Podcaster
In 2020, soon after discovering the nsfw Knightly Pleasures podcast, I checked out the tumblr blog ran by the host, Jack. I saw a post where someone had asked if he accepted dms from fans, including nudes, to which he said yes. I sent him a dm asking about this and he confirmed that he does accept photos. After I sent him some lewd photos, he tried to sext with me, said some graphic things, mostly about how erect he was. He would then send more sexual and personal messages over the course of several months whenever I’d send photos. He asked me how old I was (18 at the time) and he told me he was twice my age, and that I could be his “dirty little secret.” He once sent me a message saying how he had just jerked off to a porn video of someone that reminded him of me. He also messaged me on valentine’s day saying how he wished I was there with him.
He asked me about personal things like my sexual history, what I looked like and where I’m from. He sent me a voice recording where he was masturbating and made a comment on how hot it would be if he was the first c*** inside me, after learning that I had never had sex before. He had also tried to hook up in person. I agreed to this plan at first but eventually declined as it didn't feel right. I never thought that he would make a request like this, as I was merely a fan and had only ever spoken to him through dms on tumblr. I thought it was a bit strange of him to be asking a random fan to meet like that in private, but I would be lying if I said I didn't feel lucky at first, unfortunately. I felt lucky but also pressured the whole time that we had been speaking. Eventually, I messaged him again saying I changed my mind, that we could still meet if he wanted to. But we had started arguing, and he blocked me. We spoke again after some time and the sort of things he’d say were once again crossing the line.
This was an abuse of power as I was just a fan, barely out of my teens and inexperienced, and Jack is in his forties. Naturally, I had put him on a very high pedestal. He knew I was a young, lonely, and devoted fan, and used that to manipulate me. He uses his status to take advantage of many women. Nobody with a large platform should be breaking that parasocial barrier. Sexting or trying to hook up with a fan violates any healthy boundary between a creator and a fan; it’s dangerous, irresponsible, and unethical. It’s ridiculous and very creepy for any creator to be interacting this way with their fanbase.
