Portrait Of A Missing Person
I stretch out, across the easel,
a canvas- sandy brown and plain;
Silhouettes, they came and fell,
Stayed awhile and left,unclaimed.
Sepia in tint,I put across the skin,
Don’t fear the beige and ebony though.
Navy blue- the colour of fire,
I paint the heart beating rough.
Some warmth in the red you’ll find
Some lies to please the eyes
Maybe in the rose of those lips
you might even find my smile.
The colour purple fascinates,
Pulls some in for more,
But when the red burns bright across
the canvas,
The dust slithers off.
And if you,ever,can’t find me,
Just smear some umber,burnt.
You’ll find me looking back at you
Wild,mischievous, full of love.
