🌿 ⇢ give some advice on writer's block and low creativity
oooh lord I have so many thoughts on this!! for me personally, I find my writing "inspiration" comes in cycles - there will be periods where I write constantly and then periods where I write very little if at all (probably in part bc of adhd) and over the years I've come to accept that everything comes back around. if I'm in a slower period part of the battle is just... giving my brain some time. HOWEVER one of the biggest lessons (again, for me personally) has been that if I'm having trouble writing, the tank is empty. and the only way to refill that tank is reading. unless I've got Life Things going on, if I make an effort to read something good, my brain usually goes 'thank u time to write' lmfao. I basically have to bargain w it like a toddler. I give u treat (a good book) and u give me treat (writing more than 30 words in a week) so much goes into whether or not we're able to make the art we want to, and my advice to anyone struggling w writer's block would probably be to give yourself some grace. there's no required "output" anyone has to "produce," and so much of what's happening in the world/our lives influences our creativity. but if you're just feeling stuck (and not like, overwhelmed/stressed/exhausted/depressed etc) - your tank is probably empty and needs refilling. read until you feel the wheels turn!! even reading scripts for tv/movies I love has done the trick in the past. it's just helpful to see how other people put words down, ya know? gives your brain something to chew on.
