Okay, just gonna say this - Corlant is disgusting. Â Like, seriously, I know we can all agree on that much (even Susan Dennard said that he's the only character beyond redemption to her) but I'm in an especially intolerant mood toward him right now, so brace yourself for a long post on why Corlant is the. Â Worst. Â Ever.
1. Â What he does to Gretchya. Â This is obviously at the top of the list just because of how wrong it is. Â He proposed, she said no, MOVE ON. Â There is nothing that justifies threatening to remove her magic if she doesn't let him take advantage of her. Â While I'm not a big fan of Gretchya, this makes me feel so bad for her and I hate him just so much.
2. Â Trying to kill Iseult. Â I guess I'm still a little confused on this one, because...why did he do it? Â We know now that he's working with Ragnor, and Ragnor wants the Cahr Awen dead, but I can't imagine how either of them would know Iseult was half of the pair before she even knew herself. Â Still, if that was the reason (because second-degree hatred because of Gretchya is a little over the top), then I guess it makes sense why Corlant would expect Aeduan to blindly find Iseult and bring her back.
3. Â His blood-scent. Â Aeduan describes it as "rusted locks and endless hunger." Â ENDLESS HUNGER. Â It's really not cool if you can basically be described as a zombie.
4. Â His Threads. Â His Threads are consistently lilac and dark purple, which are, you guessed it! Â Lust and hunger. Â This guy is utterly nasty.
5. Â That part where he's talking to Iseult and he says, "You have the taint of the outside world on you." Â Like...what in the world is that?? Â Honestly, I don't even think the Apparat from the Grisha Trilogy creeped me out this much.
6. Â Telling the Midenzi tribe that Iseult is the Puppeteer, making them all want to hang her. Â This one needs no explanation.
7. Â Just being so plain bad that even THE FURY says, "I do not like Corlant."
8. Â Pretending to be a Purist priest, and for what? Â He's obviously not a real priest because their ideology is anti-magic, and news flash, he has magic. Â Does it make him feel better about himself to dress up as a priest?
9. Â Aeduan wants to, what was it, crush him like an insect or something? Â End of story.
10. Â That part where Corlant says to Aeduan, "You look more like your mother every day." Â Could he have possibly lied more? Â Aeduan is pale (like Ragnor), has brown hair (Eridysi was blonde), is tall (I don't think they ever said Eridysi was), has Nomatsi features (Eridysi was not Nomatsi), and has pale blue eyes (Eridysi's were silver, remember?). Â What an absurd lie. Â Aeduan does not look like his mother, plain and simple.
Also, did I mention how UTTERLY DISGUSTING Corlant is? Â Every time he steps on the page, there's this internal "eww, gross" going on inside me. Â I'm sorry for subjecting you to this monstrously long post, I just had to rant about this man.
